I'm not sure why people are upset that Creighton Basketball fans want to root for Nebraska in other sports. Are we saying we don't want them as Nebraska football fans?
I think I can sum up the Jaysker hate issue. I have no problem with Jays fans who also root for the Huskers in other sports. What I find comical is the Huskers took the floor and there were a lot of fans booing the team. I understand it coming from the student section, as Creighton gets a lot of students from other states who have no ties or interest in Nebraska. However, the boos were also coming from fans in the arena. I can't verify that those booing were Nebraska football fans or not, but you have to imagine that there was a percentage of booers who are Husker fans, and were cheering on the Husker Volleyball team when that game ended.
Growing up in Omaha, I was never a CU fan. I found a lot of them to be arrogant. Then they got Altman, and my sons went to his camps, and I met him on a few occasions. I've also met McDermott and some on his staff, and McDermott is a great guy, and he did a really nice thing for me once. So I'll never talk bad about him as a person. At this point I cheer for CU because I have met and like a lot of the people involved in that program.
I've said it before, I want to see all three D1 schools in the state do well in basketball, because more basketball exposure in this state is a good thing. I'll always be a Nebraska first guy (even though I have bashed Miles in the past), but if I go to a game between Nebraska and Creighton at Pinnacle Bank, I won't boo Creighton.
If you are a "Jaysker" and you are among those actively booing Nebraska basketball (but root for Volleyball and Football), and have absolutely no interest in seeing Nebraska do well in basketball, then you are a bandwagon jumper, and pretty much a hypocrite.
