Looks like the cowboys will be well represented, interesting weight choice for Smith

https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/6063701-oklahoma-state-will-send-fix-smith-more-to-scuffle
Wrestling 65 makes sense for Smith because he is redshirting and working on improving and getting healthy. He doesn't need to be focused on making weight. I would think either Martinez or Lewallen would wrestle in the scuffle. Always good to see Fix, Smith and Gfeller wrestle.

I wish both boo and geo compete in this... one has to travel to Italy but would be nice with this field to wrestle both at scuffle

Why would we take Geo at all? It’s one dual and what more does Boo need to do to solidify his starting position? He’s beaten Geo twice in competition, and currently holds a higher potental seed at Big 12’s with his win against the Wyoming starter. I don’t understand the logic. Perhaps the tickets had been booked while Geo was the only eligible one between them, but I’d think that we would benefit more from Geo getting matches and some head-to-head victories at the Scuffle?

A good chance the reason could be Boo doesn't have a passport. Just saying.

why so? That's his current weight and betting most likely weight for next year.

I don't think that is the likely weight for him next year at this point. Even to the casual observer the best team OSU can trot out in 18/19 is Smith, Rogers and Jacobe at 57,65 and 74.

Things can change but I just think the cut is pretty tough for Joe and so no need to really push it in a season you are looking for health and development.

I would agree with smith at 57 next year. Chandler rogers is best at 165, not 174. What I don't get is why not let chandler and smith just wrestle at the tournament a month ago?

There are several possible reasons why neither Bo or Geo are wrestling there. One is injury or illness, another could be Bo wasn’t able to get eligible, I hope that’s not it. I’m not second guessing Coach Smith because he definitely knows what he is doing . Excited that the Iowa is televised and we has several home matches after that.. Go Pokes.

Because of who else is at 165 and 174, i was under the impression he’d go 157 again.
Do you think Joe can't beat the current 165? IMO Joe looks like he is now a career 165lber (could be wrong). I'd also predict that at least 2 AAs don't make the lineup next year. That is bad for those individuals, but I guess shows the depth of the team.

Isn't it more likely that they are going to Italy (no way to do both)? NC State is going to be a very tough/close dual and I'd think they would need a couple backups there. Having 3 guys at 149 & 157 might be important.

I think Joe can beat Rogers but it would leave a hole at 157 unless they felt confident Geo could effectively bump up and AA.

Joe at 57 and Rogers at 65 sure looks like the most potential points next year.

I agree on most team points at 57, but when a kid has outgrown the weight class you can't force him back down. I always thought he looked like he would grown into 165. Could be wrong, perhaps there's a plan to keep him down, imo would take some serious off season work.

No i don’t doubt he can beat Rogers just think it would be a shame to see one of those 3 have to sit especially Rogers. Needless to say however that’s a great problem to have and one OSU is no stranger to

It will be a shame if one of these guys need to sit especially since Rogers and Jacobe Smith are seniors. I did see Rogers and Smith wrestle several years ago at 74 and Rogers won handily. I also hate that next year probably Gfeller will have to sit.

I watched that match and Lee is a killer on top. He has been much more impressive than Fix so far. I hope Fix really wrestles at the SS impressively. I am extra interested in how Smith does at 65 also.

Yeah, the ease he had with tilting a pretty dominate wrestler is scary. Can't see how Iowa doesn't pull his redshirt but who knows. Also interested in what they do with downey. Have no idea why he did not wrestle at midlands.

Yianni also beat Thorn yesterday 18-4. I see him as the biggest threat to Dean in March. Trackwrestling asked Rob Koll to compare freshman Yianni to freshman Dake, he said Yianni is a better wrestler and Dake a little better athlete.

Some of these true freshmen are amazing, dominating AA caliber wrestlers. Hopefully Daton joins the party.

I was surprised Bresser chose down in the 3rd but it worked out. Seemed like his plan was to tire Lee out and get a late takedown.

Yianni just lost to Eierman 9-6. College wrestling is hard, even for the super freshmen.

Bresser appeared more dangerous on the feet so I also thought he would go nuetral in the 3rd.

Pretty good turnout for us. Anyone know what's going on with Wyatt? Didn't wrestle in Reno and not registered for the Scuffle. Hopefully not injured.

I apologize if I'm being unfair but seems like Joe is either a very injury prone wrestler or there are some mental dimensions at play.
