That's funny...You might have owned WL and EL but you didn't own Ltown. WC was good and had their fair share of victories but you didn't own L-town. I know that for sure. I agree with CM3. JV football is just that...JV...Good Luck to you this year! Glad to hear you might be making your way out of the football wilderness and back to respectability...

The first seven times they met were all Warrior victories dating back to the big 6 3-A conference including twice in one season (1987) regular season and state playoffs third round. Lincolnton could not beat Mike Biggerstaff and East Lincoln was weak in the old big 6 3-A. East Lincoln will win the SD-7 this year as everyone else will battle for second. Lincolnton will be Good but there's at least 3 teams that have a shot at upending them. If Lincolnton can make a game out of their battle with South Point then I may change my mind but I see South Point winning that one easily. As far as the SD-7 goes I think EL is well out front and do see Lincolnton as the favored #2 but the distance between 1 and 2 is much greater than the distance between 2 and three. I think Newton-Conover, Maiden both could challenge for #2. I also feel that West Caldwell could make some noise because I think with that new quick snap spread offense and the speed they have they can score on anyone. As far as WC goes I fear their defense will be questionable.

No one's arguing that, duhhhh!, they own it this year but Chip English is turning WC around and the program is only going to gain ground from here on. I think WC jv's defeated both EL and L last year and had 4 freshmen and 6 sophomores on the varsity.
If I may chime in...Yes they did beat both EL and our Lincolnton JV team...but the note is...they didn't have a bad team...but our Lincolnton JV team was robbed of our starting qb to varsity thus forcing our leading receiver under center....that alone took away our offense....should be a great match on the varsity level this year....at your place!

South over West 14-0. Tight game. West is much improved. But coming off a 50 point game I expected more from them. They couldn't move the ball on South. Didn't complete a pass all night. Maybe had 145 yards. Tucker hurt his throwing hand midway through 2nd quarter. Played WR the rest of the way. But while he was in they couldn't move the ball. The RB is very talented. Very. But South is just a little better still but as a South fan its scary to see West improving so rapidly. If they can keep English I think they'll only get better. I'll say they are 20X better than Bandys. But they have to get the ball to their skill players in space. Didnt do a good job of that but South had a lot to do with that. 0...yes 0 pass yards tonight. South hasnt had a pass completed on them in 2 games lol.

Thanks for the updates! Is South Caldwell's secondary that good to not allow 1 passing yard or is it a "due to circumstances" kinda thing just because of who they have played? It will be interesting to see if SC keeps passing yardage at 50 or under per game this year.

Austin Lunceford #68 right tackle for East Lincoln is a beast of an OL/DL 6'5" 270. Easily an all state player if not over looked... The biggest guy on the field and Chazz should be thankful he has such a guy on the field to compliment him not named a skilled position player!

West played well last night on defense south is very big up front but skill players are not that good, west offense struggled against south defense but starting qb tucker only played in 3 series west moved the ball well to start the 2nd half but fumbled a snap. I still cant figure out how they say the south running back was down when he clearly lost the ball while he was still running west recovered that fumble but like i said it was taking away when the ref said the runner was down one of the worst calls ive seen, south scored to make it 14-0 a few plays later.

Disqualified is the word, not ejected. Ejection is couple games. Disqualified is the game you are in.

In football, an ejection is just one game, unless the offense is fighting. Then it's 2 games.

And yes, a DQ is no games.

I don't know if South's secondary is going to be amazing all year. Bandys is not a team that will have a lot of yards throwing it. They lined up without a WR 3/4 of the game. West tried but couldn't complete anything on them either. 2 deep balls that the corners were in great position for. Obviously they are going to give up some yards but they have the potential to keep teams from throwing it on them. #2 may be the best db in the conference. All conference last year and teams don't even really try to look his way. They will have to stay awake this week against the option of AC. Just make sure they don't fall asleep and give up the long one.

Looking like a tough year for Bandys and Bunker Hill. Interesting game coming up for West Caldwell. I'll take West if Tucker plays. Newton should throttle Hickory. Hickory has nothing.

Maiden plays Saint this week. Maxprep shows 20 kids on the roster. Is this an incomplete roster? Surely a 3A school can get more than 20 kids to come out for football without adding in the JV on game day. Had heard thirty kids in early August.

I thought Hibriten had a very solid team. Good overall team speed. I had watched some of the tape of their scrimmage with South Point and the part that I watched it looked like they held their own. I don't think I would take them for granted if I was West Caldwell even if Tucker plays.

Thanks Sly.... Your QB/RB dua is pretty awesome to have at the high school level.

HHS, I think you guys can make a run in your conference. Good luck. That game Friday night was definitely a good learning experience for our guys.

Next alignment has a strong possibility of Hickory High moving into the SD7 with the rest of the 2A county schools. Fred T Foard will move down if ADM holds while Saint remains 3A. Next year may be the last year of getting whipped by Lincolnton and East Lincoln. I like the conference as it is but things will change.

I like the conference as is too...the only change I would make is switching out West Caldwell for another team like North Lincoln. Nothing against WC but that drive is unnecessary for them and for teams traveling. Granted it's not as bad as the old Southern Foothills 1A I played in where we traveled to Hendersonville and Polk County but I think a Catawba/Lincoln County 2A Conference would be the toughest on the west side of the state.

Hibriten is smaller than Foard and Hickory. And had less kids then West Caldwell

True but Fred T Foard is at the center of the conference as far as distance. Hickory will have a ADM of about 985 when next year the magnet is not allowed to play sports at the high school. Those 250 county kids will be deducted from the ADM count. The magnet is called HCAM and located at the old middle school once called College Park Junior High.

Hibriten still has a possibility of entering the conference and all the Lincoln County exiting the conference. Football could become a much weaker conference in 2017 as the Catawba County schools have had little to no success for a number of years but basketball and wrestling would get better. With wrestling being a dominant conference across all classifications.

Well I for one have enjoyed the current conference that us Lincoln County schools have been in this past couple of years. And alot of times I dont understand the thinking behind some of the changes that are being kicked around by the managing organization. For years the complaint was travel and with this current conference only West Caldwell is a Long drive. As someone said earlier if you did drop West Caldwell and pick up North Lincoln or even Fred T. Foard it is a solid conference with some pretty good Football teams, Baseball , Wrestling, Basketball, Golf, CC......... well i reckon you get the point. But who am I to second guess the powers that be. Anyhow I have enjoyed it and will look forward to getting to see it one more year.

I agree. I have enjoyed this conference. I would love to see Lincoln/Catawba stick together in the SD7. West Caldwell may wind up 3A but the rest of the conference should stick together.

Can you imagine if Newton, Maiden, and Bandys could get on track to where they were just a few years ago along with East Lincoln and Lincolnton where they are now? Talk about an impressive conference...wow.

EL will come back to reality when Suratt leaves this year. And those two aren't "home grown" Lincoln county boys either. Lincolnton has always been good and should always be good. NC and Bandys are looking at tough times right in the face. These are the same teams that I think went 0-in middle and JV teams. I think Maiden is the team that is being overlooked. They have some talent over at Maiden. And the Huff kids is a stud among studs. I think they challenge the league this year and a state in next couple of years if coach doesn't mess it up.

I have to eat crow and say RetardCav is right, Looks like ole Chippy is going to be with the Warriors for at least another year, but that's only because they can't beat lowly ole Hibriten heck, they couldn't even manage to score a single point on either Caldwell County team! He sure has that offense clicking- I know they have a big game coming up against the Sisters of the Poor, hopefully they will be able to find then end zone!

I'll take a plate of that crow as well. I thought Hibriten and West would be a very close game.

Hickory and Newton finish their game tonight.

Don't know about this year, but last year the Hickory Hawks would have beaten the wheels
off West and Hibriten. I heard they lost a lot but are still ok.

LOL, now you have to revert to other teams to make yourself feel better about the fact that ole Chippy and the Warriors just ain't that good. We'll see about the county championship, at least HHS has a chance to win it, because we know Chippy and the Wartards don't!

I get that Tucker is a good player but people tried to say that same wrist stuff for when they played South. He played almost the entire 1st half. He played about 5 series against South in which they managed 30 yards and 2 first downs. He was 0-3 and had -2 yards rushing. Tucker is a good player but West is all about Harper. If you stop him then you win. He is by far the best player on that team.

I think West is greatly improved. However, they were so bad that with
the great improvement they are still mediocre. With that being said, I
think we all see what South Caldwell has..... very little. The first real
team South plays will beat them... probably badly. An offense that can
barely get to the end zone against West needs lots of help. Titus Tucker is
a good QB but needs to be in a different set to be maximized.
