Gets stops and makes shots. That was a defensive clinic, 5 guys rebounding and simple ball movement offense. That is a tough team.
Yes but you need shooters. The Calvary is comingHope all the morons is here that say our style can’t work are watching them. You can be a defense first team and still succeed in the tournament
Agree. But the refs let both teams go at it too.Gets stops and makes shots. That was a defensive clinic, 5 guys rebounding and simple ball movement offense. That is a tough team.
You conveniently overlooked the fact that they are quicker and multiple guys can drive and penetrate which we are sorely lacking. They’re also all built like brick sh**houses.Hope all the morons is here that say our style can’t work are watching them. You can be a defense first team and still succeed in the tournament
They are the exception not the norm. It’s like saying we shouldnt write off 5’6 guards because muggsy boguesHope all the morons is here that say our style can’t work are watching them. You can be a defense first team and still succeed in the tournament
Not by recruiting the mid major guys that Pike did that are all now transferring.. and I wish each and every one of them well.Hope all the morons is here that say our style can’t work are watching them. You can be a defense first team and still succeed in the tournament
They also had higher seeds and easier paths…Big East with potential 3 teams in Elite 8. They had a helluva season
The game as defined by the rule books (i.e. what's a foul, palming the ball, walking etc.)....is re-written by every two bit referee who " does or doesn't just let them play".Agree. But the refs let both teams go at it too.
The top of their conference was solid this year. It’s always going to have a weak bottom, but the top of the Big East was better than the B1G this yearThey also had higher seeds and easier paths…
It’s debatable IMO… Solid if you are basing it on how they performed in their league, but you put those same three teams in the B1G and have them play that grinding schedule, they won’t look as good. The B1G beat up on itself all year and there isn’t a night off. The wears on teams come March. The top of their conference was solid this year. 100%. Especially with the players we have coming. Pike knows…Hope all the morons is here that say our style can’t work are watching them. You can be a defense first team and still succeed in the tournament
I think you meant the cavalry, lol...hopefully it's on the wayYes but you need shooters. The Calvary is coming
I agree with some of this and I get your point about them getting higher seeds. But take a look at Indiana and Purdue (our two higher seeds). Purdue didn’t have a tough road and they lost to FDU. And Indiana was lifeless against Miami in the second half. Uconn has dominated their opponents. It’s debatable IMO… Solid if you are basing it on how they performed in their league, but you put those same three teams in the B1G and have them play that grinding schedule, they won’t look as good. They had an easier conference schedule and beat up on weaker competition. I also believe the league’s OOC schedule overall wasn’t impressive and if I recall correctly the B1G was 6-3 this year in the B1G vs Big East challenge.
Just saying those top teams benefited and got higher seeds because the conference isn’t as deep.
Look at the Xavier game vs Texas…. The 10th B1G team (Penn State) gave Texas a better game. Nebraska smacked around Crieghton earlier in the year, MSU the 4th place B1G handled Marquette their champion. UCONN does seem to be firing on all cylinders at this point, but Arkansas looked completely flat after being Kansas.
The BIG East teams run uptempo offenses with players that create shots off the dribble as well as make wide open 3 pointers. They recruit players to match their style of play.I liked watching the Creighton vs. Princceton game because both teams had outstanding passing and player movement resulting in layups and wide open jump shots. The slow methodical B1G TEN teams need to change in order to remain relevant at tournament time.Big East with potential 3 teams in Elite 8. They had a helluva season
I think we are in 90-95% agreement… My point is that the Big East is a little overrated, while the B1G is definitely underrated. This is same argument everyone makes about the SEC in Football, but honestly I think that is a little more smoke and mirrors now but that is another discussion.I agree with some of this and I get your point about them getting higher seeds. But take a look at Indiana and Purdue (our two higher seeds). Purdue didn’t have a tough road and they lost to FDU. And Indiana was lifeless against Miami in the second half. As for Creighton, they had injury issues early in the year. Nebraska caught them at a great time coming off games against Texas Texas, Texas, Zona, and Arkansas. They are now at full strength and they beat Baylor in the second round. That’s a great win in a 6 vs 3 matchup. Yes, the Big East had an easier schedule, but it’s really difficult for me to defend the B1G after what Purdue and Indiana did, meanwhile Uconn and Creighton have been taking care of business.

I get your point about Indiana, but Miami is probably playing better than anyone and just cut down Houston like a rag doll. I think the Big 12 is a little suspicious at this point, so those bigger wins against them have been watered down and even the SEC looks a little flaky.
My gut Miami cuts down Texas and FAU beats Kansas State.
Did you watch SDSU at all? Our shooting is probably better. They’re really athletic and win with Defense, hustle and effort.Yes but you need shooters. The Calvary is coming

Yes. Just like the other poster said and I explained to you many times before the other week with our back and forth about playing SHU, the Big East top teams appear to be overrated based on their performance thus far in the tournament with the exception of UCONN.You honestly think the B1G is underrated??
Agreed. I think (not us) there are two discussions going on. People only look at the top two teams and comparing the leagues off of that limited data and others (like us) looking at ALL of the league and judging/comparing the two based on that.Agree with this.
The only reason why I’m not suspicious about the Big 12 is there isn’t much of a bottom. Oklahoma and Texas Tech are at least half decent competitive teams for being in last.
I think the B1G is deep and agree how tough it is. My gripe is top REALLY needs to start doing better in the tournament. Illinois losing to Loyola Chicago as a 1 two years ago and Purdue losing the way they did the last two years has been bad.
Fwiw Alabama is the more efficient defense 3rd best according to kenpom. So the best defensive team lost. That will happen on 3 of 27 from 3 outliers though.Hope all the morons is here that say our style can’t work are watching them. You can be a defense first team and still succeed in the tournament
I'm not talking about other conferences just the B1G which was looked at as competitive top to bottom but would have trouble w the rest of the country. The B1G savior Izzo luckily got past the first weekend then lost but that was it. I'd say the conference was rated properly. Underrated is just laughable. And I don't wanna hear " they beat each other up all season" crapYes. Just like the other poster said and I explained to you many times before the other week with our back and forth about playing SHU, the Big East top teams appear to be overrated based on their performance thus far in the tournament with the exception of UCONN.
Tonight’s game will be very telling…. I think those top teams beat up on an overall weaker middle and bottom half of the league and allowed those top teams to bloat their records resulting in easier seeds. UCONN at this point appears to be as elite as their records shows, but let’s see how they do against Gonzaga. If they are blown out of the water then it only confirms my OPINION.
I believe the B1G… As a league is much more competitive from 1-10 than people are giving it credit for. Anyone can beat anyone on any given night as we saw this year and with the exception of Purdue shitting the bed (again) in the tournament, the league has performed relatively well for their seeds. How many of our teams got lower seeds (because of this mediocracy perception due to league competitiveness) and ran into the 1-2 seed the second game?
Some people want to paint/see the be B1G competitiveness (6 or 7 teams with 11-9 records) as mediocrely and others see it as just a tough league top to bottom.
The Big East is VERY top heavy with 1-3 top teams in the league and a huge drop off after that. You don’t think having an easier conference schedule and average OOC schedule allows for these teams to LOOK better and stay fresher come March? The tournament is showing that with the Big East teams being brought down to earth.
Why is the B1G…. 7-2 vs the Big East this year if the league isn’t either underrated or the Big East overrated? If Rutgers took care of business against SHU it would be 8-1.
No reason to debate… I agreed to disagree.
Again… I agree to disagree move on with your life. 7-2I'm not talking about other conferences just the B1G which was looked at as competitive top to bottom but would have trouble w the rest of the country. The B1G savior Izzo luckily got past the first weekend then lost but that was it. I'd say the conference was rated properly. Underrated is just laughable. It's a message board tough guy, you dont tell anyone to move along. B1G is a tough conference top to bottom but mediocre against the best of the rest.Again… I agree to disagree move on with your life. 7-2
I think most objective observers would say the Big East, without Nova was probably underrated this year while the Big 10 has been overrated relative to their tournament performance the last few years. Without Nova the Big East is on the verge of having potentially two teams in the final four and a national champion. The coaching depth in the conference is also impressive with Pitino and Sean Miller added to the mix. I’d say the BE is making a comeback and the Big 10 has some work to do.You honestly think the B1G is underrated??
This is pretty uncomplicated. Big East was better 1-5.It's a message board tough guy, you dont tell anyone to move along. B1G is a tough conference top to bottom but mediocre against the best of the rest.
Listen… You are now being a total penis and being argumentative beyond reason. I said move on with your life… Its an expression numbnuts.. It was used as a way to say “there is nothing left for you and I to discuss and having any additional back and forth is pointless”. You made your points and I made mine…. I’m not changing your mind and you aren’t changing mine. It's a message board tough guy, you dont tell anyone to move along. B1G is a tough conference top to bottom but mediocre against the best of the rest.
Thank you. This is the general point I am making in that I think the B1G in totality this year was underrated. This is pretty uncomplicated. Big East was better 1-5.
Big Ten was better 6-11.
Not sure how you displace UConn and Creighton as the top 2 and DePaul, Georgetown and Minnesota as the bottom 3.
Hope all the morons is here that say our style can’t work are watching them. You can be a defense first team and still succeed in the tournament
I think that's way down the road if it happens. We'll have to see what the media rights deal is like for the Pac-12 and whether adding those two schools would make a difference to the deal. We'd also have to see whether the state universities in the conference want SDSU, which is part of California State University, the second rung in the California higher education system and whether SMU, located in Dallas, wants to be a Pac-12 school. (My guess is they'd prefer the Big 12 because it contains arch-rival TCU.)What’s the status with SDSU and SMU to Pac 12?
