1. Aside the from the bigs who didn’t show it tonight, there isn’t a single player on the roster who can’t make shots at a high percentage. Chandler was the only one who I think was subpar tonight.

2. Butler is everything expected defensively.

3. Almonor is way better knocking down 3s than I was expecting. Hoping this wasn’t an one off display.

4. Oweh is a bulldog. Reminded me a little bit of Keith Bogans.

5. Passing and movement is great.

6. The Weave play has been permanently retired.

7. Not a single cut for a layup allowed on underneath inbounds plays. Win!

8. Not a single fouled 3 point shooter. Win!

9. The Goooo and Ruuuun plays have also essentially been retired. We’re definitely going to Gooo and Ruuun, but we’re going to do it with with purpose.

I agree with points above, I need to see a better quality opponent, but I have a feeling we might want to swap Garrison for Amari on defense / rebounding. Amari gives you more offensively but it had moments where didn’t show he wants to play hard defense( maybe just the quality of the opposition) .

Carr hard to tell but he looks he might have hard time against a mobile big or guards driving at him .

I watched also Duke. They are tall, no player under 6’5” and deep, athletic and can shoot the 3. They are going to be a tough match up for us cause I think their depth will cancel ours. It will come down to match ups .

I don’t think we ever saw Williams and Garrison on the floor at the same time, and doubt we will, but that’s one way we could get bigger in certain situations.

Carr could also play more inside to bring more size around the basket.

But yes, we don’t necessarily have a big bruiser.

I don't disagree, but we seem to have enough shooters, that even if two guys are off, the others will still keep the score board running, most nights. Assuming the Def is locked in.

I had the same impression of Williamson early on. Two or three consecutive possessions where he made no attempt to rebound or stay in front of his man. His head was on a swivel and slow to move. Pope will bring that up.

We have 3 bigs, Carr, Williams and Garrison plus Almonor at PF. What were you watching?

Never fails. Any time we think we might be good and competitive Duke has a monster squad.

Garrison looks a little slow compared to the other bigs we have this year after watching tonight’s game. I think he has a lot of potential and will get his chance to get better.

Loved watching the game! We did a lot of good things tonight! Butler and Robinson are a nice duo. Lots of shooters 😍. They shared the ball and didn’t make a ton of mistakes. Love Chandler’s bounce. Oweh is BUILT and versatile. Everyone brings something to the table and seems competent.

I’m hoping Carr shows more post scoring skills in upcoming games. I hope Garrison can be a post weapon too. I am worried Williams will struggle to find his own offense in the post so we will need the other two to have that capability.

Thank the lord that on that number 6, that weave Cal ran was horrible, he did not even run it right to begin with.

The “over reliant on three” criticism launched at top offensive teams generally is a myth. No good offensive team is one dimensional. In Alabama’s case, they actually were less reliant on jump shooting than we have been while Oats has been coaching. They generate more shots at the rim in general than Cal coached teams.

“Reliance on the 3” is an artifact of how shots are reported in a box score. There are 3’s and then every 2 is lumped in one category. A dunk attempt is recorded the same as a 15 foot jump shot when both aren’t nearly the same in quality.
