A couple of thoughts.

Never would have bet that Alabama would have the most SEC championships in baseball. Thats interesting to say the least.

I always knew Kentuckys baseball history was bad. Seeing it out like this just makes it that much worse. But, lets not forget until Barnhartt baseball was less than an afterthought to UK athletics. The only sport that mattered, and when push comes to shove still is the only one that truly matters, is basketball. UK's football history is almost just as laughable.

Forget the SEC for a minute, what bothers me moreso than that is when you compare UK and UofL's history its very similar. Louisville had only been to one, ONE, NCAA tourney but righted their ship and are consistently one of the top 5 teams in the country, So that old adage that a northern school cant win in baseball is a joke. If Louisville can do it, theres zero reason why UK cant. Theres things its going to take and Mingione is not part of that equation. And the fact that he is still the coach really makes me questions Barnhartts commitment to sport.

I just didn't realize in such stark contrast that we were the worst baseball program going away. I mean....what in the hell? This is ridiculous.

I would be curious, and maybe I’ll set down and try to research it. But how does UK compare to the other power 5 conference teams when it comes to tournament appearances and CWS appearances. @Comebakatz3 , wanna help?

Sure, we can do some digging. Off the top of my head... it probably doesn't look good for UK.

Kentucky has been to the NCAA tournament just 7 times in our history and we've never made it to the CWS.

So, just to look at some names of schools that I figure might not be that great:

Duke - 3 CWS appearances. 9 tournament appearances.
Boston College - 4 CWS appearances and 8 NCAA tournament appearances.
Notre Dame - 2 CWS apps and 23 tournament
Wake Forest - 2 CWS apps (1 title), 14 tournament
Pittsburgh - 3 NCAA appearances
Virginia Tech - 10 NCAA appearances

So, that is just a look at the ACC alone, and teams in the ACC that are not really their more traditional powerhouse baseball teams. Most those appearances occurred in the 1950s or 1960s, but they all count the same historically speaking.

Illinois - 12 NCAA appearances
Indiana - 1 CWS, 8 NCAA
Iowa - 1 CWS, 5 NCAA
Maryland - 7 NCAA
Michigan State - 1 CWS, 5 NCAA
Northwestern - 1 NCAA
Purdue - 3 NCAA

Kansas - 1 CWS, 5 NCAA
Kansas State - 4 NCAA
West Virginia - 13 NCAA

Oregon - 1 CWS, 8 NCAA
Utah - 1 CWS, 5 NCAA
Washington - 1 CWS, 11 NCAA (their one appearance in 2018 was vacated)

So, we mostly lineup with the Big 10

This pretty much sums it up.
