The league as a whole still ranks as KenPom's "best" league, still ahead of the Big 12

The conference is 134-48 overall
Right now, they have 14 of the top 58 teams and 7 of the top 26
For reference, last year it ended with 14 of the top 47 and 8 of the top 22

Only three teams rank in the top 20 in offense (Alabama 2nd, Vanderbilt 11th and Auburn 16th)
Only four teams rank in the top 20 in defense (Florida 11th, Tennessee 12th, Kentucky 14th and Vanderbilt 17th)

The only sub-100 loss is Ole Miss losing to Utah (125) and outside of that, only two other losses (Mississippi State to 95 San Francisco and Tennessee to 84 Syracuse). Otherwise, the league has taken care of business.
The league only has EIGHT top 25 wins, which belong to Tennessee (Houston, Louisville), Alabama (St. John's, Illinois), Kentucky (St. John's), Arkansas (Louisville, Texas Tech) and Auburn (St. John's)
The league has TWENTY-SEVEN top 25 losses.

Gap has gone down quite a bit from last year (which was expected).

The gap last season between the SEC and the 2nd rated conference (Big Ten) was 3.09
The grap this season between the SEC and the 2nd rated conference (Big 12) is 1.09 current.

1.09 tho I will say ......still pretty massive.

The avg efficiency margin last year for the SEC was 22.09
This season it's 18.96.

The bottom line is......it's still the best conference in basketball and there's an abundance of resume building games for UK and the other SEC teams.

After our performance against SJU, I think we will definitely make the tournament. Hopefully, we can win either the SEC League play or the SEC Tournament.

yeah no.......the only "down" it is is when it's being compared to the previous season which was historic.

This conference is very good and teams like Vandy and Georgia are only getting better.
Yea I agree with you, but there are people in the media acting liked the sec is down just because it isn't as almighty as last year

For instance, ive heard media members say Kentucky has a chance to win the sec since it isn't as good basically. Like on field of 68 and even Matt Jones has down played our conference

Vandy is projected as a favorite in every remaining game except for one in Barttorvik. They are looking like a heavy favorite to win the SEC according to a number of metrics.

Yep.

We are like the B12 back in the day when they were the "best conference" but constantly maligned as overrated.

We have a lot of good teams and no horrendous teams. The strength of the bottom props up the conference a good deal.

But but but. You can’t be good in both basketball and football! That’s illegal!

We can’t even be good in one sport, much leas two. And Vandy has baseball too.

It’s getting really hard to give a crap about anything UK these days when the rest of the SEC is blasting past us. We might seriously be the bottom of the bottom of the whole league. We aren’t even good at basketball anymore.

Posers like the one above, why even post? We got a good up and coming football coach, volleyball did good this year, soccer has done good as well as baseball and women's basketball. We haven't played sec schedule yet and finally have a semi healthy team.

I agree. I’m excited about where the football program is headed now that we’ve hired an offensive minded coach.

The basketball team is getting healthy, and should be able to make some noise.

Volleyball team are National Runnerups.

Baseball team has been really good the last couple of years.

Women‘s basketball is looking like a top 15 team.

Things are starting to look up.

Vandy will be playing without Frankie Collins for the the next 6-8 weeks. Frankie would be a starter at PG for us most seasons but his role is first off the bench as our 3rd PG behind Tyler Tanner and Duke Miles.

The Collins injury isn’t the end of the world for this team but it’s a big depth piece for us.

The reason the SEC is DOWN is because they have lost against all of the ELITE/TOP teams.

9-27 against the top 25. Outside of that, the league has dominated.
