But picked us to lose to Vandy and upset Ga. And one of them said wed beat Fl too.
7 being the over/under is not a good number. There are not 7 definite wins on this schedule. Here would be my thought:7 is my over/under for the year as well. I love the fact, people who actually know SEC Football are picking us to win 7 this year. They actually know what they are talking about.
Can' t disagree but they did have some positive points. Best rb duo in east, best receiver core...if drew can be servicable, and the D can avoid getting trounced, we c ok uld make some noise.Clint Stoerner bullish on UK, picked us over Vandy as well but was outvoted. Florida pick was in the context of "if there is a surprise, what game would it be?" As though picking us over Georgia isn't a surprise...? I think these previews are designed to put a positive spin on each team and feed the preseason frenzy about what could be. Have to admit, though, I could feel myself getting sucked in.

7 being the over/under is not a good number. There are not 7 definite wins on this schedule. Here would be my thought:
3 definite USM, NM and AP
3 should be USC, Vandy and Mizzo
2 could be Miss St. and UF
4 long shots Bama, UT, UGA and UL
With that the over/under number of best fit would be a 5 or 6....so let's say 5.5 due to how close we have been to bowling the last two years. Until you prove it....you should get no benefit of the doubt.
And we very well could have won eight.Same station, same preview last year picked UK to win 8...:chairshot:
If USM is in the should be level then we "should be" in for a long season lol. We cannot lose or even come close to losing to these types of teams. Their record against SEC opponents is horrid and they are outscored in an even more horrid fashion. If this game isn't a 2Td+ victory then I will be concerned.Without putting on my "Louisville Doesn't Exist" glasses, I still think they are at least one tier too high in your totem pole - I would definitely put them in the "could be" and potentially, depending on how the season plays out, in the "should be" by the end of the year.
I would also move USM into the "should be" level.
Depending on their level of QB play, UF may move up a tier - glad we get them early.
We were up 22-0 on UL but collapse in the 2nd half because we didn't prepare for Jackson to come in. (DJ Eliot's fault)
Auburn, we had the ball in the last minutes of the game but Shannon Dawson's play calling is horrific and Towles panicked.
Vanderbilt...Barker's first game as a starter and only lose by 4 at an SEC venue. I honestly believe the team was distracted at this point. We all know what was going on at the time of the season. If we come into Memorial Stadium prepared we win. I think we beat Vandy this year. Vandy has no offense outside of their RB (Webb)
The "problem" with conference networks, when not televising actual events, are their attempts to impersonate credible sports analysts. There is almost always a certain "optimistic spin" for even the weakest teams. But that's OK, after all, it is a conference telecast representing all teams in the conference. There will always be a lean toward optimism over pessimism (and often reality). To expect anything less is naive; you simply have to separate the wheat from the chaff when you listen to these "analysts".
FWIW, the real analysts are centered in Las Vegas or otherwise crouched over a spreadsheet of stats looking for data to beat the guys in Vegas. The South Point O/U win total for UK is 5 (with even vigorish). 5Dimes the same. Personally, I really like the OVER here (but I don't like the idea of tying up your money until the last game of the season). Practically all of the pre-season math has the Cats winning 5 this year but I just can't help but think they find that 6th win somewhere. Don't ask me where. But like many I see 7 potentially winnable games so 6 seems realistic. If everything goes right they might get 7 but very few teams have a season where "everything goes right". There is usually a head scratcher in there.
Peace
