Heads up, guys. One of the best UK games of all time will be airing soon on SEC Network.
Thinking about live tweeting it. Maybe #SECRewind? Not sure.

UK was fast "paste", but nothing really too extraordinary for the time. Arkansas was obviously similar, and UNC, Duke, Arizona, Kansas, and UCLA (the title team that year) all got up and down the floor.Originally posted by SaguaroCat:
It's jarring how ugly our uniforms are.
Also, how fast we are running up and down the court. Makes me want to find an old Loyola Marymount game.
Looking back now you would think pitino would have gave him a million chances like he does his louisville playersOriginally posted by catben:
This game was the beginning of the end for Rod Rhodes. Feel bad for him looking back at how it turned out. I thought he would be one of the all-time greats to play here after his Freshmen year.
Rhodes leaving UK wasn't because of behavior issues, it was because of performance/personnel. Rhodes was given every opportunity for 3 years to establish himself as a star, but he was always a mix of good and bad (he was never terrible, which some people try to make him out to be, but he was deeply flawed). UK had Derek Anderson waiting on deck as a transfer, and signed Ron Mercer. Pitino pretty much made it clear to Rhodes that the coddling was over, and he was unlikely to play much (I think he wanted Rhodes to redshirt). At that point, a parting of the ways was the best thing for both parties.Originally posted by W2R:

Wasn't anywhere as complicated as that . WE wanted Mercer , there wasn't a spot for him so Pitino told Rhodes -" hey buddy we gave you , the #1 player in your class , 3 years to show you are that elite player everyone thought you were and you didn't so we are getting the #1 player in this class and he needs your ride and your minutes". It was a very simple situation and i did like Rhodes but at that point almost 20 years removed from a title , you do what you gotta do to win the next one and that one - getting Mercer , did that. I remember when Mercer committed I knew we had the 96 title . I got the same feeling when in an april day last year at noon the twins announced they were coming back .Originally posted by mj2k10:
