Heads up, guys. One of the best UK games of all time will be airing soon on SEC Network.

Thinking about live tweeting it. Maybe #SECRewind? Not sure.

Nerve wracking for me....hard to believe that Antoine Walker, Anthony Epps, Mark Pope and Jared Prickett came off the bench for UK that year.

ARKANSAS was crazy good and had a tremendous bench...

It's jarring how ugly our uniforms are.

Also, how fast we are running up and down the court. Makes me want to find an old Loyola Marymount game.

Sometimes the word choke is overused in sports, but Rhodes choked at the line in regulation.

One of my favorite games.

I hope they show the post-game interview where Epps interupts "Toine you MVP."

The SEC tournament was when Antoine stepped up his game and showed how great a player he was.

Remember the game very well and watching it again. Just a great basketball game UK and Ark had some great games back in the 90's

3 take aways

-Antoine Walker's coming out party
-Anthony Epps was one tough kid!!
-Hogs never could beat us when it counted

Hard to believe that was 20 years ago.

loved all those games but we had some of the most god awful ugly uniforms I can ever remember. Pitino still to this day has terrible taste for uniforms. But they were some epic battles between those two teams.

This game was the beginning of the end for Rod Rhodes. Feel bad for him looking back at how it turned out. I thought he would be one of the all-time greats to play here after his Freshmen year.

Wow look at the amount of people there in the GA dome for an SEC championship. Electric!

Man i swear after this game i thought for sure we were going to win the title but nope that debacle with UNC happened . Made me sooo hungry for the title in 96. Kinda like how that UCONN debacle made me ravenous for the title this year.

UK was fast "paste", but nothing really too extraordinary for the time. Arkansas was obviously similar, and UNC, Duke, Arizona, Kansas, and UCLA (the title team that year) all got up and down the floor.

It was fun to watch. I'm sure it was fun to play. It was wildly entertaining. And it's gone, gone, gone, until they do something to clean up the game and move it away from the rugby scrum that it has turned into.

Looking back now you would think pitino would have gave him a million chances like he does his louisville players

Oh, Pitino. Seeing you celebrate brought back so many memories. Why did you have to go to UL and flush all of that down the drain...

Man, I had forgotten just how badly both teams wanted it. So much emotion. Terrific. I still find it crazy that we won that. The Hogs had the momentum for the majority of the game.

Thanks for the reminder.Remember it like it was yesterday. Man, time flies. One of the best games due to the high quality of the teams and the momentum swings.

Rhodes leaving UK wasn't because of behavior issues, it was because of performance/personnel. Rhodes was given every opportunity for 3 years to establish himself as a star, but he was always a mix of good and bad (he was never terrible, which some people try to make him out to be, but he was deeply flawed). UK had Derek Anderson waiting on deck as a transfer, and signed Ron Mercer. Pitino pretty much made it clear to Rhodes that the coddling was over, and he was unlikely to play much (I think he wanted Rhodes to redshirt). At that point, a parting of the ways was the best thing for both parties.

Games were soooo much more enjoyable to watch back then. Free flowing offense without the refs calling a foul every time someone breathed on the other player. Also of note...no prolonged delays while refs reviewed a play or hard foul. Good old days for sure.

Wasn't anywhere as complicated as that . WE wanted Mercer , there wasn't a spot for him so Pitino told Rhodes -" hey buddy we gave you , the #1 player in your class , 3 years to show you are that elite player everyone thought you were and you didn't so we are getting the #1 player in this class and he needs your ride and your minutes". It was a very simple situation and i did like Rhodes but at that point almost 20 years removed from a title , you do what you gotta do to win the next one and that one - getting Mercer , did that. I remember when Mercer committed I knew we had the 96 title . I got the same feeling when in an april day last year at noon the twins announced they were coming back .
