I don't see the SEC doing away with divisions, but the permanent opponents listed for UK would be good matchups.

Hard to argue with that. It makes a heck of a lot of sense.

I don't think they would want to lose the revenue from the conference championship game.

Wow we get the easiest (permanent) schedule in that world by a longshot ... which we sort of do now (at least last season). But that's a dream scenario for UK football.

Based on a quick look, I like it. AL probably won't like it. There are historically 6 "elite" teams in the SEC (AL, AU, LSU, GA, TN, and FL) and AL is the only team that draws 3 elite permanent opponents. For UK, the TN game did not make the writer's "major SEC rivalry preservation list" and becomes an every other year game. Is BBN OK with that?

Peace

You obviously follow only basketball closely. UK is competitive in baseball even with a sub-par coach the last 8 years. Cats have won series against # 1 Florida 4 years in a row. They beat South Carolina regularly when the teams play in Lexington, in 2015 LSU lost 1 Sec series all year, guess who....UK and in Baton Rouge. Cats went 15-15 this season in the best conference in the country. With the revenue UK gets, the huge majority from Football and the Sec, the cats can hire a " Big time coach in football and baseball, that doesn't guarantee success, see Bill Curry, also see Billy Clyde in Basketball.

I don't like it, but Alabama and Florida are definitely more important to Tennessee fans, and while they probably care about Vandy the same as us, they're in state rivals.

All for it for this matter.....how can you call yourself a conference when you only play the teams in the opposite division once every 7 years.

Texas A&M will have been in the SEC 14 years before they ever walk into CWS.

This idea is irrelevant since we're told in another current thread that the SEC is going to 16 teams. Net, why waste anyone's time on this?

If the goal is to play all the teams more often, then play all the teams more often (Duh), like with a 9 or 10 game CONFERENCE schedule.

And bring their entire corps of cadets in one of the most impressive college traditions you'll ever see.

A proposal to do away with divisions, give every team three every year opponents, and this way every team plays every other team every two years.

Sounds good to me: http://www.sbnation.com/college-foo...-schedule-format-divisions-rivalries-rotation

This really isn't a proposal, its an idea being thrown out there by sbnation. I think it has some good points, but it also has some negatives. The biggest is with no divisions, it would be possible to have 2 teams playing the last game of the season and then the very next week playing the championship game. I think there has to be some kind of plan to keep that from happening.

One plan mentioned to the SEC commisioneer was moving AU and Bama to the East and Vandy and Missouri to the West. The west would love it, but the west has won the last 7 SEC championships, no doubt it is the stronger right now, the East not so much. But it would keep the 2 main rivalries going because all teams would be in the east. Then there could be 2 crossover games per year. This would mean those of us in the East would have to step up our game, but why not, the west has stepped up their's since Saban came to Bama, they are dominating crossover play right now.

Another option would be to play 9 conference games with 2 rotating and 1 pern cross over schedule. Personally this is my choice and I think its a choice of many fans. I understand UK is trying to build their program up and it's probably not a great plan for UK, but for some teams it we have some pretty weak home schedules, especially us with the UF game in Jax. We never have more than 7 home games and some years when we are home for the UF game we only have 6 and it sucks when 3 of them are against directional schools, yet season tickets are priced like it was all P5 games. I wish we would got to home and home for the UF game, its always a home game for UF, half the distance and instate, almost like playing it in Atlanta every year.

I really don't know how quick anything can be done, I suppose the best thing to do is bring in a couple more teams and try figure something out with 16 teams.

No **** it's an idea. How could that have possibly been construed as official SEC policy change?

No he didn't. He was implying I mistook a blog post for something the SEC was considering changing. Reread his first sentence. Hence, I called him out.

I am so dumb I didn't realize you called me out. I went to the link, thinking I was going to see something proposed by SEC presidents, ADs or someone at the SEC office and all it was was an opinion by a writer from SB. Then I looked at your post and you clearly say a proposal to do away with divisions and rework the scheduling. It clearly isn't a proposal, just an opinion like you, me or anyone else can have, which isn't worth much unless its by the three groups I mentioned. That wasn't close to a proposal, AU and Bama to the East and Vandy and Missouri to the west is much closer to a proposal than that plan. Sorry if that offended you, but calling it a proposal is jumping the gun a little.

A proposal BY WRITERS. That word can be used in multiple contexts. I think we've achieved peak message board.

The last thing we need is for Vandy and Missouri to go to the West and AL and AU go to the East. Sounds like a sure bet to put our ceiling at about 5 wins.

Not my plan, but some reporter kept asking the new commisioneer about it a couple days ago, he didn't give a real answer, just said it was the first he had heard of such a plan, while almost laughing. I can see the vote getting split by division, Missouri might vote on the move, but don't think anyone else in the east would go alone with it.

I would like it better if UT was our permanent opponent and Missouri was Vandy's. I think UT fans still see us as more of a Rival than Vandy? I would like to hear their opinion on it though.
