Wouldn't we need tex am to lose too? We can't jump ole miss now
We could end up in 3 way tie with Mizz and Ole Miss. Not sure of tiebreaker there but if I'm right, we all went 1-1 in that group so think we get 6 seed due to win over Fla. However we could also end up in 4 way tie including A&M if they lose to LSU (not likely I know). In that scenario, we went 2-1 as did A&M. They get 5 seed as they beat AUB. We would get 6 seed. I think this is correct. --- Just saw another post. Maybe we get 5 seed? Not sure how they multiple ties works if 2 team have same record against the group. Could be we get 5 seed over A&M because we beat them. I am now officially confused.

Here's one very possible scenario:

1) Arkansas beats Miss State Saturday, and Georgia at home beats Vandy. Arkansas would get the #9 seed.

2) We lose to Missouri and get the #8 seed setting up an 8/9 meeting with Arkansas in our first game Thursday. This assumes Ark easily wins their Wednesday game against #16 SC.

They did in the early 90’s when they were good.

Now not so much.

I go every year. Imo they bring a very good crowd. Im sure it isnt as good as when they were national title contenders, but good nonetheless.

UT and Bama now have huge presence too. Auburn brings a decent crowd.

UK still has the most but Tennessee isnt far behind. Much changed while everyone was asleep at the wheel and let other programs pass us up.

Alot of UK fans that went nearly every year( like me) stopped going because we realized Cal didn't give a rip if we win a single game in it and coached like it.
I never stopped going. Seems most that went didn’t stop either.

If we end up playing on Wed it will be the first SEC tourney game I’ve missed since they brought it back in ‘79.

Cal can’t beat Paris

figures that a team we are about to play loses the game before

I know what you mean, but that loss really helps us because if we can beat Missouri Saturday, we can now overtake them in the seeding. Also it helps us with Ole Miss, because if they lose to Florida, we would be in a three way tie and Ole Miss wouldn’t be ahead of us despite the H2H win.

Again assuming a win over Mizzu.

Yep one of the silliest narratives is that Cal didn’t care about winning. Was it his main priority? There are arguments to be had. Didn’t care? Simply a ridiculous notion.

I always feel that's one of the biggest misconceptions on this board. It's partly cause of Cal and his quotes. The whole players first, draft night in 2010 being one of the most important in UK history etc etc. I get that.

But I always thought that was a means to the ends. To win you need talented players. To get talented players you need to show that you care about them and their dreams of making the NBA. I always thought the two went hand in hand.

Cal has a massive ego. There was no way that man did not care about winning lol.

Yes because Missouri sucks so bad.. I am just glad they are not a Quad 1 team and top 15 in the nation.... [eyeroll]
And consider that mizzou won @uf. Wbtw, was UF's only home loss for the year.

They beat Bama

They beat Ole Miss

They came close to beating the Vols at UT.

Mizzou is an x-factor team. More then most teams, they can beat any team and lose to any team. If they play at the top of their ability and top 5 teams has a "B" performance....they win.

Cal didn't seem to worry much about the SEC tournament his last seasons at UK.

He won 6 SECT championships in his first 8 seasons. But from 2019-2024 he had early exits and won only 2 total games. (Covid year had no tournament.)

Wanting to do something and successfully doing it are not the same. I’m sure Brian Scalabrine wanted to be the next Michael Jordan.

The SEC Tournament seeding situation if UK wins today appears to be the following:
  • TxA&M wins & Ole Miss wins = 7-seed
  • TxA&M wins & Ole Miss loses = 6-seed
  • TxA&M loses & Ole Miss wins = 6-seed
  • TxA&M loses & Ole Miss loses = 5-seed

Here's where you can play the what if scenarios. If UK wins today and some others games fall the right way they could move up to the 6 or 7 seed which would move them to the other bracket and avoid Auburn.

If Auburn wins today, I am not sure Auburn is a bad draw. They really have nothing to play for. They have already locked down a 1 seed, and probably the overall 1. A win over Bama at home on Senior Night tonight would definitely lock up the overall 1. They have little to gain and so they might just “show up.” Pearl is smart enough to know that his team could use the rest and a SEC tourney title means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Could be wrong, but Auburn might be the best team to face of the top four for that reason.

rick64, that's the program I used. Do you think my breakdown above is correct based on what you've looked at? It seems that if UK wins, then maybe the only team results that matter are TxA&M and Ole Miss.
