IT doesn't get much better than Northwestern's first half against Georgia Tech.

The Cats are shooting 48.1 percent from the floor and 45.5 from 3. The defense has harassed GT into 25 percent shooting. The Cats lead in rebounding 23-13, assists 9-2, points in the paint 16-10. Law has 10 points, Taylor and Gaines have 8 apiece and seven Cats have scored. About the only criticism you could have is that they've turned the ball over nine times.

Not bad at all.

Great first half. The biggest headscratcher for me was the courtside advertisement for Evanston Suburu in Skokie. Makes about as much sense as Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

I am at the game. It is clear that Ash should be very deep in the bench. One poster can’t see from his comfy couch how little respect the opponent has for Ash offensively and that when he is on the court, the Cats play 4 on 5.

Maybe Ash will get some good minutes in garbage time, though. This game is over.

We are playing great! No worries! Taylor and Law are shooting lights out!

Agreed Ash does not have any offensive game. There was a play at the end of the first half where he had a layup and passed it to Law and resulted in a turnover. I would play Greer instead

Anyone who thinks every team is not going to try to press us after watching a few of our games should definitely be drug tested. It doesn't take that much pressure to completely throw our team out of synch. We look exactly like we did against FSU now.

Michigan will destroy us on the press. You are absolutely right! We looked gassed. We need a rest and get back at it. We need Ash in there. GT is on a 15-2 run

Not playing very smart this half.losing rebounds because no one grabs the ball. Too many turnovers

Offense has gone away completely in the last 5 or 6 minutes. Throwing the ball the way can't bring it up the court nobody can make a shot even the defenses disappeared. Good thing we were up by 28.

Going to learn a lot about this team on the next 15 minutes. Are they a team that can rally and respond, or they fold? I want to believe in them, but it looks really bad right now.

need to get the ball to law to score they will take care of this game but it's a little disconcerting that they went into such a bad lapse there

Besides Alvarado going nuts, Collins doesn’t seem to trust anyone besides four starters and Gaines, which has drained our energy on defense.

Alvarado is getting away with a ton of handsy crap against Law. I don't care that he is a basketball version of Rudy and is having to guard someone bigger... it is still a damn foul!

How many of these refs are related to Alvarado? Guy gets more calls than Jordan in his prime. Good lord...

Good to get out of that with the win. CCC needs to figure out his rotations and who can take minutes. Guys we're clearly gassed down the stretch. Gotta work on beating the press and running the fast break. Remain worried about the smaller, quicker guards like Alvarado. We don't have a good defensive matchup option yet.

I’m sorry but Ash is just not a D-1 player. Please play Greer. We are going to get roasted in the big ten unless we can handle the ball better. That second half is brutal. We need one of our true freshmen to step up. It may be a long season
