Taylor's first basket tied the game at 34 going into the half for NU.

I really like what we've seen from Gaines and Nance tonight. Gaines was very aggressive and was the catalyst for the NU offense early. He has 9 to lead the team. Nance hit a 3, tossed the outlet pass to Law for Law's dunk, and then had the steal and a breakaway layup.

NU got off to a slow start but has played well since. NU's bench has 16 points!

Remember, though...Iowa is playing without leading scorer and rebounder Tyler Cook.

They seem to be doing a decent job of keeping the bell away from Law and Pardon so far. I really like what I’ve been seeing from Taylor defensively the last few games. He’s come up with some good stuff and he doesn’t seem like defense was much of his game at UE.

Turner hitting a couple corner 3s in this game. I like how he lets the game come to him.

Other teams' freshmen are better than ours. Our recruiting may be better, but still not good enough.

Unbelievable. For a team that has so much length and prides itself on defense, it can sure look inept in stopping the other team sometimes.

Went from 44-37 NU to 52-46 Iowa. Terrible.

Law getting my frustrated, time to ride the pine
What the hell is Law doing? How does Collins allow that? That was just childish. By the way... why do our freshmen need time to develop but other freshmen around the league step right in and contribute. This Wiezman kid is killing us.

This is terrible Iowa is not good. We should be crushing these guys. I feel no one ever takes over. Why can’t we beat this press and go on a dunk a thin. These guys should not be close. Just terrible

Wieskamp was rated higher than all our guys. #60 nationally on 247.

It's too bad we didn't get Luka Garza in that 2017 class with Gaines.

Collins benched him.

I dunno anything about Iowa’s players. I want coach to teach the kids how to punish the trap.

Also, here go the refs...

He knew exactly where Benson's face was when he threw his elbow. He was looking right at him. By the rules, maybe the announcers are right about their cylinder rule, but it sure looked to me like a dirty play with intent to hurt.

Can’t remember ever seeing that rule

Kinda' hope Benson fouls out too so they finally play Nance as a big man.

I don’t like to blame refs... but man, some of the calls tonight are pretty darn bad.

Good on NU to eventually force them to call fouls on the other end, too.

Need someone to get hot.

Bad loss. Just another disappointing season.
Iowa doesn't have better players. It is just a vastly better-coached team. I still can't figure out what the hell NU is trying to do offensively out there. Iowa had a solid game plan and executed it relentlessly.

And shot 26 free throws and got two free possessions

That's one we had to have. For the most part, we just couldn't get stops whenever we cut the lead to 5...and couldn't score the times that we did. Never made things uncomfortable for Iowa in the second half after they made that run. Vic finished with a double-double, but it seemed just about every one of his fouls gave Iowa a plus-one and he went 0-5 beyond the arc and couldn't spark the offense.

Worst defensive team in the conference suddely figured out how to play great defense on the road without fouling? Uh no. Totallly jobbed by the refs, That Benson reversal had to be the worst call I have seen in a number of years,. Cylinder rule or not, if a guy gets cracked in the face with an elbow, it's a flagrant 1. Garza committed enough fouls to foul out twice, but was only called for three, where our two centers were called for 9. Just terribad officiating...

You're blaming the refs? Really? The calls were not bad. The differential resulted entirely from the game plans. Iowa consistently pounded the ball inside and made plays to the basket. By contrast, NU took a bunch of fall-away jumpers.

Yeah, the worst defensive team in the conference suddenly figured out how to play defense without fouling, on the road where they had not done anything resembling that no less. And one of the best defensive teams in the conference suddenly forgot how to play defense without committing a boatload of fouls. Dream on.

Law’s hero ball at the end was not helpful, either. Turner showed he could make plays attacking the basket and Taylor was hitting 3s. Need to get better looks than Law jacking up whatever he can. It’s just like the BMac hero ball.
