NU needs to clean up the turnovers a little bit -- they had 7 in the first half -- but, damn, that was one pretty good half of basketball. They shot 52%, made 8-14 3s and outscored Nebraska 9-0 in second-chance points.

Spencer has 12 points and 8 rebounds (and 4 turnovers), and Kopp and Beran have 8 points apiece and have hit 4 of 5 from distance.

Halftime score: Northwestern 42 Nebraska 27. Me likey.

The good news is that I don’t think Nebraska can shut us down. It’s 4 guards and a frenchie

The bad news is this game is not over. They play fast and might get hot.

At the game. Nebraska has solved the zone

Nance is incapable of just shooting over his defender, but he is playing hard.

If we can keep them out of fast break scoring we are looking good on half court d

He keeps doing this thing where he doesn't realize he's basically 7'0" when he's 5 feet from the basket, and keeps looking to dump it down to a big (Jones or Young).

HE IS A BIG TOO.

I just don't see Greer sticking around. Writing is on the wall. We will have two stud guards next year

He is 6'10. He needs to play like it and not think he is a 6' guard. At least today he took it to the basket a couple times rather than just trying to shoot a fade away. At 6'10 he has an advantage pushing it to the basket but he negates that advantage hoisting up all those threes or shooting fade aways instead of taking it to the basket. Don't get fouled in the act taking the kind of shots he is taking. Beran is getting ahead of him. It looks like he gets it. Hopefully Nance will soon

He rushes his shot. When he learns to gather himself and realize these smaller players can’t defend or alter his shot, he will improve.

All very good observations IMO.

I thought he had one particular great move yesterday. Dribbled from the left but missed the short distance bunny hook. That shot is there against an overwhelming number of defenders who will guard him.

He’s not only 6’10, but but also someone with some serious wingspan.

Yes, he needs to develop and use that driving hook more.

I agree that he rushes his shot. I think that's attributable in part...sometimes great part...to his not getting the ball enough...and not getting it where and when he wants it.

So, yes, he is 6 10 and can shoot a bit....so he hoists it up.

I've been pretty critical of the NU guards not moving the ball enough....part of Nance's offensive game the last month is Big Ten coaches looking to move him out to where he'll do the least damage. If a guy like Beran starts hitting....and AJ's game comes back....infinitely harder to do.

I love Nance's game, excited to watch him improve over time.
