Second-half thread for NU-Illinois

Well, it looked like NU had the game somewhat under control before just collapsing in the last five minutes. NU missed 7 straight shots and went scoreless over the last 5:03 as Illinois closed on a 15-1 run to take a 31-25 lead into the half.

Law has to get involved to spark this sluggish offense. He has 2 points on 1-6 shooting. They got a lift from Greer, of all people, in the first half.

It's just a low-energy game today -- the team and the building.

Team looks awful right now. How can NU be down 8 when Illinois is 0-8 from 3? Just terrible.

Very disheartening. Can't defend the pick-and-roll, can't drive to the basket and score, can shoot threes, can't get anyone open. Something needs to change her this is going to be a very long season

Law and Turner have thus far combined for 3 points and 7 turnovers.

Yuck.

We look clueless on offense. One guy dribbles a lot, stops the dribble, makes bad pass or forces up a poor shot.

Both teams are pushing the pace and shooting wildly.

Down by 1 at the 12 minute timeout with 2 'Cats free throws coming.

I can definitely hear Emily's screeching, especially when we are on defense.

A tight game: 49 all after UIUC free throws.

We get fouled on a shot and make it 51-49.

Foul on Taylor. Illini made both. 51 all.

Block on UIUC. Made 1 FT for 52-51.

Illini miss late in the shot clock and foul on the other end. **HONK**

I will hold off the play by play.

That was one of the longest couple of minutes of actual play time I've seen in a while.

Big-time opportunity for Law to convert on the And-1 after the Under 8 timeout.

How the heck does this team consistently get back too slowly in transition after a made basket? Jeez. Michigan State clearly gave the blueprint.

I'm worried that the main guys are going to run out of gas again, like we've seen time and again. Hope they pull this one out.

Think about this: Illinois is 0-10 on 3s and has a one-point lead with less than a minute to go.

I feel like the coaching has let this team down big time this year... and I realize we may win this game. We should not be barely pulling out a win against this team at HOME.

That was ugly. I honestly can’t figure out what we are trying to do offensively. It’s a mess.

The 'Cats outplayed the Illinois by double digits for the majority of the game. There was just one really bad stretch where Illinois had a 15-1 run.

You think it's bad now...wait until Pardon and Law graduate and a recruiting class with players rated in the 180-300 range nationally. Double yikes!
