Well, it seemed like NU was in control that entire half, but here we are at the half and it's a six-point game. The Cats had as large as an 11-point lead, and it was in the 10 or 11 range for most of the opening period.

But SIU-E made their last four FGs and NU missed their last four to let the Cougars back into the game. NU went cold down the stretch, hitting just 2 of 10 shots.

Spencer has 9, Young 7 and Buie 5 to lead NU in scoring.

SIU-E has 9 turnovers but have a 17-16 edge in rebounds despite not playing anyone over 6-7. Zeke Moore leads the team with 7 points.

What we want to see: NU come out in the first five minutes of the second half and step on the Cougars' necks.

OMG! Jam by Spencer! Nice spin move by Young

The shooting confidence needs work. How can these guys struggle so badly from three against nothing competition in a quiet home environment?

We should be up by 20+ points. So many wide open shots that we are just clanking.

And now predictably under 10 pt lead due to cold shooting and a couple made 3s by SIU. How can none of NUs players find a shot? We have plenty of kids who were good shooters in HS. They come to NU and forget how to do it?? Hard to watch.

Jones moved his feet really well on that play in the paint. No foul. No shot. Baby steps!

No sooner do I hit post and he doesn't move his feet and fouls the guy. Uggh.

And then a quick reach in foul. One forward, one back. That's the wrong way to go dancing...

Why is Greer getting all of Buie's minutes this half? Don't like it.

I'm a pretty dedicated viewer when watching the cats. But had a really hard time staying engaged on this one. Kind of like Kopp.

Kopp was pretty absent other than that really nice ally-oop to Turner.

As for viewing, I felt watching Young really work his rear off today was pretty fun. He did a lot of different things today.

Jones really needs a lot of work. He's slow to react, indecisive and a poor defender and rebounder. Looks lost and fouls way too much. When he comes in for Young the opponent always closes the gap. In 2020 we have another big guy coming in. Hopefully he'll be able to spell Young more effectively.

Hopefully Jones develops a lot as well. He has some good size and showed a lot of promise as a youngster in HS. He needs to commit himself and realize his potential.

Yeah, I agree. Young man is showing us a lot more than we expected. And Gaines seemed more engaged than what we've seen so far. That's encouraging.

I think I felt annoyed by 3-19 for three against poor opposition. It wasn't like those shots were that contested. At the end of the day, we are a young team, we played without Nance, and with a sick Kopp. It was bound to get sloppy.
