I hate them for 2 reasons , 1 putting someone out of work 2 I feel like I'm working for free, I mean if I received a discount for saving the company money I could see me doing it.

There needs to be a testing/licensing requirement to use those lanes.

You're swapping out a few remedial jobs for better tech based jobs.

McDonald's self ordering/paying model claims that the employee who used to be a cashier is now serving the food to customers in the dining room. So there's no net loss.

That's what I'm talking about ...they want me to work for free ...i don't get a discount to do the work , they are saving millions & charging me more to do so

If our unemployment stays low, it sounds like positions lost due to automation/self service are being replaced elsewhere.

It's almost to that point already, since turnover is so high. But McD has to ensure that that burger you get is the same as the last as the last as the last. Oh, and that they cover their liability issues. I wonder how they do that...

Like you don't already work the grill and fryer. j/k

They do/did have restaurants where you pick your steak and do the grilling.
Went to a place in The Gas Lamp quarter in San D on one my trips out there call “The Strip Club”. Waitresses walked around in burlesque outfits. You cooked your own steak. It was tacky as hell and was about 400 degrees in that place. Hated it. I watched some Asian fella cook a steak like he was mad at it. I had to walk over and ask him WTF he was doing. Fvcker was mashing down on it and flipped it about 30 times.
I imagine a liquor license is out of the question. You couldn't pay me enough money to own a restaurant.
Nope, was drinking Blantons in there.
