It was not the Duke programs fault Semi did not red shirt. Semi did not want to.

Unfortunately it didn't work out for Semi at Duke. Not sure he really ever bought into the process but bought into his hype. Hopefully it works out for him there, but you'd have to think he had to have been kicking himself a bit after leaving last year and how everything played out. Sheed off the team, playing time opens. Natty. School you transferred to gets put on probation, you end up sitting out 1.5 years. Lot of that is just unlucky, but as Grant always said, luck favors the prepared man.

He should have redshirt at Duke, I wonder if it was ever an option...

It was an option. Semi didn't want to redshirt.

I wish him luck. He's a very talented player who will have two solid years at SMU. And I'm glad to hear things are working out for him there now....there were rumors circulating a few months back he wasn't happy and was looking to transfer (again) closer to home.

First off I still wish Semi the best and hope he finds his dream. I really don't think he gave Duke enough time but he knows more about the situation than me. One thing I remember about his recruitment was the high light video that was going around at the time. We were impressed by his great build and strength. But the one thing that I still keep seeing is him dunking. Dunk after dunk after dunk. He comes to Duke and of course he didn't see a lot of pt at Duke just like a lot of freshman don't get the pt because of the transition from high school to college. I know there are exceptions. Then his soph year he comes out and starts firing up 3's and couldn't find the hole on very many. I think Coach K had in mind a different role for Semi more in the lines of Amile. Semi may have seen himself in a different role. I can't help but wonder if Semi had worked on his inside and rebounding game he would be getting a lot of pt right about now but I respect Semi and his decision. OFC

I definitely think Semi could have had a better career at DUKE if he would have played more like a power forward.. K loves to play smaller guys at PF.. and with Semi's strength & jumping ability, he would have been a very good PF.
