Anyone have a favorite cheese to use for cheeseburgers? I like American and provolone and I'm looking for other inputs in case I want to try some others

I had a burger at Stellas in Lexington with bleu cheese and apples on it. Dang tasty
Nothing melts better than good ole plasticky American cheese.
Smoked cheddar, American, Pepper Jack, smoked Provolone, Bleu cheese crumbles if using Cajun spices, Gruyere, Muenster. Can't go wrong with any of them.
I usually favor cheddar because of the bite it gives. I also love bleu cheese mixed in burger. Or a good 'Shroom'n'swiss......
Everyone covered the basics. A few times in the summer, I'll slather some pub cheese on the burgers (particularly the cheddar and horseradish flavor) and use a pretzel roll for the bun.
I prefer cheddar, smoked gouda or pimento cheese on my burgers. Sometimes blue cheese crumbles in the burger mix.
Homemade spicy pimento cheese is excellent on a burger.
I love the Adams Reserve New York Extra Sharp Cheddar they sell at Costco. Outstanding for whatever, melted or unmelted. About $7 for 2 lbs. (~44 slices)

For the perfect burger, ground up some brisket and bacon. Season with s&p, top with bacon, a small amount of BBQ sauce, and slices of american and swiss cheese.

I usually go either American or Colby. Blue cheese can also be tasty as can pimento cheese.

I saw it on one of those Food Network shows a few years ago. I got up and started putting shoes on and the wife asked where I was going. I said "Walmart. I'm getting one of those round things to keep the egg from spreading out to fit the bun better."

Its quite literally why it was invented. To melt easier/better.
I love trying all manner of cheeses on burgers but damn if the tried and true American isn't the best. Why mess with successs?
