Rumor hear in Georgia from a friend of mine the played for Kirby Smart several years ago, is that Dawson is a candidate to be the OC here at UGA. Also, if the Eason kid (#1 or 2 qb in this class) decommits and goes to Fla. or Miami with Richt that Towles may land in Athens. Don't scream at me, just passing along information from a trusted friend. Not saying that this is a sure thing, but it is a crdible source with close ties to the program.

Well if I were you, I'd pray that smart doesn't hire Dawson. That would be a dream come true for me he couldn't leave any sooner.
Sounds like someone is just rehashing the rumor that was proven to be false a few days ago.
We shall see, I just have trouble seeing Dawson & Towles as a package deal. The rumor & scuttlebutt preseason was that Dawson preferred Barker to be the QB, he was more accurate and made faster decisions. but was overruled because of Towles experience.
Not buying it. UK already had one OC fall upwards during the Stoops era. It would just be crazy to think it could happen again so soon. Especially when neither had much to show for their time.

I know someone posted the Dawson/Towles rumor a few days ago on a twitter account who's IP was traced to Gainesville Florida, so it's a fake account. As for as I know UGA hasn't reached out to Towles. Eason isn't going with Richt to Miami, and from all the information we are getting he isn't going to UF. He will be in Athens this afternoon and rumor is the new OC is going to be there this weekend and that everyone would recononize him. It might be Dawson but I don't think anyone at UGA would know who he was, wouldn't know Helton either. If that is true I have a good idea who it is, but not saying.
I can tell you with certainty that there are SEC schools very interested in Towles. Georgia not one of them. Not remotely likely that Towles would get a waiver from the Commissioner, which he would need even as a graduate transfer.

Regardless of the Dawson rumor, I can't imagine that a starting QB would be allowed to transfer to a school in the same conference in the same bracket and be eligible to play against his old team the following year. Yes, I understand the grad rule but it would seem that schools within the same conference would have restrictions in this case. Any know?
What KSR could've been referencing was Dawson's inclusion in the Louisiana-Monroe coaching search. That was mentioned a couple of weeks ago, apparently he was raised in that area and may play be playing his chips to get that HC job.
As for the UGA thing...that's probably some crazy-assed **** house rumor as some have suggested.
Take it for what its worth, but a when towles first announced he was transfering, matt jones mentioned georgia as a place he could land...that was before this fakke tweet. Not saYing its legit but the possibility of towles to ga has more legs than the fake tweet.
Kentucky's OC was not the problem this year, or the last 2 years. It was the head coach that wouldn't let them run their offense, that was the problem!!
Don't think this rumor is accurate. I have a buddy that was a diehard Barker lover and Towles hater, and he hung out with Dawson early in the season. He was begging him to play Barker and Dawson took up for Towles and said he was the guy. He gave zero indication of preferring Barker more.
Yet Towles's brother Benny said his brother wasn't going to any SEC schools. Just drop this rumor its been proven wrong. Dawson however is possible but not likely. I'd rather have Dawson because having 3 OC in 3 YEARS can be a program killer.

Chaney has a 1-0 record as an interim coach and of course it came vs UK. He was the interim coach at UT after they fired Dooley. Supposedly is well respected so a good hire for them.

I wasn't excited about the hire at first, in fact hated it. But when the 2nd half of the hire was announced, the new OL coach Pittman from Arky I am ok with it, more important is our qb commit days he likes it. Not the sexy young hire most wanted but a hit who is is comfortable running multiple offenses from a spread to an I and one of the top ok coaches in the country. Chaney is a good recruiter, but Pittman is excellent

Out of curiosity, did he give you any indication of what the heck was wrong with the offense this year? Seriously, I'd love to know what happened because we have way too much talent on that side of the ball to look like that?
Just message board stuff, nothing from anyone I know who might actually know anything. But an hour or so ago someone posted one of the planes UGA is using is flying in from Lexington this afternoon, and another from Tuscaloosa. Could mean something to it, could be a mistake, but I think something will be known by midnight. Kirby is heading back to Bama Monday or Tuesday, so I think completing his staff would be a priority this weekend.
