Finally watched it. What an incredible movie. Maybe the best movie ever.

I'm not surprised. Your taste in all things anything is remarkably poor. That being said, you are right in that it is a damn good movie.

The complexity of Andy is immense. Such a great character. Such a great story. Such a great book.
When I first saw the thread title, I was halfway expecting to see a story of an all female Shawshank reboot coming out next year.
Forest Gump and Pulp Fiction where it's competition.
I also think America at the time was not overly accepting of jail and homosexuality. Just think about today, you can make a movie where a human has sex with a fish and you win an Academy Award. What a time to be alive!
