Ole Miss grad here. So freaking happy to see him live up to the hype! Kid is going to be a stud. Also, NCAA has been snooping around for 4 years, not one single shred of evidence showing we have paid players. Not one.

Are you serious? What about your 5* LT admitting in NFL draft that he took money from a coach and had text proof to match it.

an admission by a player is not evidence?
If you're referring to Tunsil, that was a legal payment not from the program. NCAA Student Assistance Fund- From the NCAA manual, “The Student Assistance Fund is intended to provide direct benefits to student-athletes or their families as determined by conference offices. As a guiding principal the fund shall be used to assist student-athletes in meeting financial needs that arise in conjunction with participation in intercollegiate athletics.”

I believe it was the wr Treadwell back in there historic ole miss class. Right after he signed he posted a picture on instagram or Twitter or some social media website of a stack of $100 then 10 minutes later it was magically gone.

That is a bit of a stretch, players admitting coaching giving them money, 13 violations with the football program, 9 of them the most serious and 8 of those with the current staff which is players being given various amounts of money and free cars from a Mississppi car dealer. By proof do you mean none documented by 20-20 as it happened?

OM has turned in a self imposed penalty of something like 10 scholarship reductions over 5 years, doesn't sound like the athletic department is so sure there is a shred of evidence. OM's deeds deserve at least a 2 year bowl ban and 25 scholarship reductions over 5 years. The think that would concern me if I were an OM fan are OM is a small school with a small alumni base, with virtually no national following and unlike UNC zero political clout with the NCAA. They are the perfect school for the NCAA to show everyone they are in charge and make an example out of OM.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Have you seen the way NCAA picks and chooses whats what? Rashad McCants? Arian Foster? Admission is nothing if the NCAA doesn't choose to hear or believe it.

Maybe you don't understand the word "evidence?" A decision-maker may very well rightfully or wrongfully ignore evidence. But, statements are evidence.

They stopped playing DiXie so the NCAA will give them a pass. PC schools are a protected species.

Interestingly, UK was found to have committed very similar offenses in the Dewayne Robertson, Claude Bassett days. The penalties UK suffered were severe but I can't recall the exacts, maybe someone can. If ole miss doesn't get something similar or worse we really are screwed in this conference worse than we are already.

I'm not saying that we are completely sinless. Yes, there were some major violations under Nutt- the whole ACT scandal is true and could really screw us, and we do deserve punishment for that. But nowhere in our NOA is there anything about paying players to come to Ole Miss. Treadwell came bc of a high school teammate/friend was already a DB at Ole Miss. Tunsil's car wasn't given by the university. That was an idiot booster at the local car dealership- he had the car as a loaner while his was in the shop, and they let him keep it for like 8 months (obviously illegal). The coaches had no idea he even had it bc he always rode with a teammate to campus.

Not to necessarily put politics into this thread, but there has been no indictment of Hillary, either - - yet.

If it comes out that we paid all of these players to come to Ole Miss, I will gladly eat crow, and will be calling for the heads of our media folks, coaching staff, and AD. Until that point, I would like to believe what they are all telling us with the evidence they have shown us. Hopefully I haven't ruined all credibility on here- just sticking up for my alma mater as any of you would do.

Heck no , you sound reasonable and sensible . Post here anytime . I respect a fan that admits he "could possibly" be wrong . Unlike the jerks at UNC and the cesspool 65 miles to the west of us . At least you don't have a waiver wire out for any big time recruit that gets dismissed from teams , specializing in the sexual assault or battering of girlfriend variety .

No credibility issue at all. Love to see you admire your school. Hope you are right and everything works OK.

Just relaying what the admin has been telling everyone. Apparently the electric bills were okay for this- "provide direct benefits to student-athletes or THEIR FAMILIES..." Seems to me like that would be included as long as it gets the green light from the conference office. But I obviously don't work there, and don't get paid the big bucks to make those decisions.

Patterson is a stud QB, rocket arm with pinpoint accuracy in the pocket or on the run. Will be one of the best SEC QB in a long time :eyes:

A reduction of 25 scholarships over 3 years ( self imposed by U.K.)
Reduction 85 to 80 scholarship players for 3 years
1 year post season ban
3 years of probation

Did you forget about his seven game suspension last year? The one that happened PRIOR to his admission?

That was for the loaner car that I talked about earlier, and self-reported. Also, that was his junior year (his final year at Ole Miss).

Don't forget the no interest "loan" he got for a down payment on a car.

Look, it's fine to support a program. But have some common sense about it and don't buy everything Bjork and Freeze are trying to sell.

I've already said that I will gladly eat crow if it comes out that we have in fact paid players to come to Ole Miss. I am not completely naive to think that we (like other schools) have not done some things that would frowned upon by the NCAA. The ACT stuff that went down under Nutt is 100% true and will/should be dealt with. But like I said, until it is all said and done, I'm going to (hopefully) believe the info we have until proven otherwise.

And right on cue, Barney Farrar is placed on administrative leave. Must have unpaid parking tickets or something like that.
