13-12 career record. No all-America honors. Not a statistical leader. Basically, he accomplished nothing of historical note in his two years there.

Deion snapped to his defense and said nobody would even be talking about the decision if his son’s last name wasn’t Sanders. To which many replied “Yes, because his jersey would not be retired if his last name wasn’t Sanders.”

Of course, schools are free to retire the jersey of any player they wish, but typical convention is to retire jerseys for players who had major contributions, which is why there are typically few jerseys retired.

The decision kind of surprises me, since Deion talks a big old-school game, nothing is handed out, have to earn your own way, etc.

Deion is a highly paid rec league coach who wanted to be the head coach so his sons could be starters on the team.

I have to wonder who at Colorado approved the retiring of Shedeur's jersey? I don't think a coach can make the decision to retire a jersey on his own. This makes Colorado football look even more pathetic than it already did.

It does just look very silly and smacks of blatant nepotism/favoritism.

I compared it to South Carolina retiring Spencer Rattler's jersey. Both Rattler and Sanders ended up as the 5th leading passer in their respective school's history. Both finished with a 13-12 record.

Retiring Rattler's jersey would never even cross someone's mind in Columbia.

The AD was instrumental in it, because he broke over 100 school records and finished third in passing yards, fifth in attempts, third in completions, first in passing touchdowns and tops in QB rating in just 2 season

Of course this is also just show you how much Colorado QB's have sucked, LOL

Seems kind of quick, buts since its all a publicity stunt, makes sense to do it now

I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m just curious what the 100 records were? Are there even 100 categories for stats for QB’s? If there is, good lord that seems like overkill to keep that many statistics. Not to mention I would think the only true big stats to keep track of for QB’s would be yards, TD’s, completions, percentage, wins, and maybe another 1 or 2.

I don't know about 100, but he is the career passing TDs leader. I think he set some single season records but am not aware of any other career records. Seems to a very low bar for getting your jersey retired. But, we're talking about Colorado football and that probably was the whole point.

Deon is the Donald Trump of Colorado football. May not make sense, but he gets what he wants.

Thats a great question for Colorado PR People, LOL looks like single game stuff, season stuff, career and first year QB records and a bunch of categories we as fans would never think of.

Could be most yards/throws in a qtr, things like that as well to stretch it out.

Not getting rave reviews from pre-draft process.

“The worst formal interview I’ve ever been in in my life. He’s so entitled," one longtime assistant coach said. "He takes unnecessary sacks. He never plays on time. He has horrible body language. He blames teammates. ... But the biggest thing is, he’s not that good."

And the criticism didn't stop there. An NFL executive told Pelissero that, despite not yet taking a single snap in the pros, Sanders wants to call the shots. “It didn't go great in our interview," the exec said. "He wants to dictate what he's going to do and what's best for him. He makes you feel small."

"It's not that he's a bad kid. He has been so insulated. It's going to be a culture shock when he really learns how a locker room really operates and how it really works inside a building," one NFC scouting director said. "He's had so much input on the offensive game plan and who the coach is, and everything's been catered to him. When you walk in one of these buildings, no one's going to give a sh*t about that. No one cares who your dad is.

There is no way in hell I would take him in the first round. He and his Dad will be an issue wherever he plays. 2nd or 3rd round pick if I were a GM.

Shedeur faces 2 main obstacles in his transition to the NFL:
1. Acccepting the reality that while he is Deion Sanders son, he is not nearly the athlete that Deion was.

2. Adjusting to playing for a coach who is not his father. He has played for his father since middle/high school and his father has basically crafted his teams around Shedeur. That ain’t happening in the NFL.

I have seen some mock drafts that have Nick E. going earlier than Sanders. Some have him in the late first round.

If that is indeed an issue, what is drafting him in the 2nd or 3rd Round going to do? You pick the player based on his talent and whether he can help your team or not. I have some questions myself about Shedeur as an athlete. That may justify him getting picked in the 2nd or 3rd Round. However, picking him there to apparently humble him or his father would be retarded. If I were a GM, I would float the attitude stuff out there so teams would be dumb and not pick him so I could scoop him up late in 1st Round.

That is why the NFL Draft is the silly part of the season. If you just look at the eye test, I'm picking Shedeur over Bryce Young every day of the week. Yet, the Panthers traded stuff away to move up and pick Young #1. GMs that pick players based on whether they like their personality get fired.

Yeah, nothing screams "retire his jersey" like being a 5th round draft pick.
