True its all over.
There was a rumor going around weeks ago that he got a staffer pregnant. I dismissed it at the time, but for him to be getting fired now, that might be true.

Interesting if Michigan is in fact moving on. Who would have thought that Michigan, MSU,UCLA, etc. would be firing/hiring new hc’s this year. The coaching carousel seems to be accelerating. Even some with long term success with their programs are being canned.

It could hardly be a better situation for Fitz. He gets hired, the next day they announce a $1 billion athletics initiative kicked off by a $400 million donation, he has the endorsement of Dantonio, and within a week Michigan football is in disarray and scandal after firing their coach for cause, but also after 2 relative disappointing seasons.
MSU is a better situation for Fitz right now. Starting from a lower point, less expectations, but suddenly tons of resources. Michigan has extreme expectations and a national title 2 years ago. Unless Michigan was Fitz’s long term dream job I don’t think he’s regretting it.
I just heard a report on the radio saying Moore flamed out after the announcement.

Michigan fans woood rightfully go apeshit if they hired Fitz. They’ll be angry if they don’t get DeBoer or one of the top two NFL candidates
Yes for sure.
I agree the M State job is probably a better fit for him.
I just think it would have been funny if his name was in the mix at UM.
May be a short-term benefit, but if UM hires the right coach, will make it tougher for Fitz/MSU and the rest of the B1G (let's not forget that they were the youngest team in the conference).
There were rumors flying around for months and supposedly a no of big time boosters were fed up and were going to close their checkbooks.
DeBoer is probably the name that is being mentioned the most but agree with Klatt that may not be the right fit as UM's program under Harbaugh (who's had something lIke 6-7 former assistant coaches arrested/detained) was built on toughness/physicality and DeBoer has lost twice to UM.
Campbell would have been a near-perfect hire (btw, the total antithesis of the used car salesman Franklin); would have been interesting to see which program he would have picked if given the choice.
ASU's Dillingham also fits the mold but would he leave his alma mater?
Speaking of (deluded) Mich fans, Portnoy gushing about how he's glad his school did the "right thing" is farcical and totally lack of any self-awareness.

Portnoy knows exactly what he's doing - if you confidently shout the lie, enough stupid people will believe it. He's taking a page out of the playbook of another prominent public figure.
Michigan is a case study in "too big to fail." Too many people have hitched their wagon to that program, even with the myriad of indiscretions coming out of the coaches' offices. As we know, winning cures all ills.
I also tend to think, especially after Harbaugh and Moore, the next coach will have so many eyeballs on him they might even install spyware on his phone and a camera in and right outside his office - bad place to land right now.
While I think that Spiro guy has had some accurate information, that seems unnecessary if it’s not substantiated. The pattern of behavior though is concerning that he may have some form of sexual addiction and the stress of the HC position as well as the access/power gradient and lack of accountability brought it out. If others in UM knew then they did his mental health a disservice by not confronting it earlier. And the AD supposedly just told him he was fired without having HR or security, knowing that he was emotionally unstable. It is sad for him as he needs help but unfortunately destroyed his family and career before getting it.
Michigan will never be a bad place to land. Same with NU. Some comments on this board are just bizarre

I just saw this bit of news and it occurs to me that he would make a great one or two year transition coach for Michigan.
To put it in perspective, he has been at Utah so long...he was the guy Utah picked to replace Urban Meyer when he left to coach at Florida.

Agree he’d be a good transitional presence. He’s never spent any time east of the Rockies except apparently playing for a New Orleans USFL team briefly, but not really crossing the Mississippi delta
Maybe he’d have interest in a couple years at Michigan, he’s “only” 66 and sources say this isn’t necessarily a “retirement.” I don’t think this is what Michigan has in mind though.
