As usual some good stuff from Shon.

I’m riding that horse until it’s tongue is hanging out.
Put a saddle on the big fella, put an oat bag under his chin.
The only way Pardon wasn’t going to block that shot was if he was laughing too hard.

Does Shaun work on these before the game, or are they spontaneous?

"He definitely walked. He isn't James Hardon playing twister out there" (Or something like that)
Shon is the best. I make special note when he does the commentary.

An underrated line tonight was "that's a dunk" on the fast break before Pardon even technically had the ball....

Shon should do Monday Night Football. Deserves a big stage.
Shon could get a bigger stage than BTN but he is pretty much of a modest guy who is more fascinated with charity work. Phillips has made NU a commercial product and forced NU peeps like Shon out while Phillips hires new college grads from Michigan, etc who just come here to build a resume.

Another good takeaway was how high Shon was on Nance, several times saying he's going to be an absolute star.

Not sure I understand pushing out NU people to create a commercial product with other college grads? Can you clarify or elaborate? Seems like Phillips has been wildly successful getting funds, facilities, coaches, raising the season ticket base etc... But your comment is interesting and you prob know some details that I don’t.

I also love Shon and wish he called all our games on BTN.

Tangential topic- Am I the only one who’s starting to get tired of Jon Crispin this year? He didn’t really bother me in the past but starting to. At least I think it’s him - whoever was the color guy for the Iowa and Michigan games on BTN (if I’m thinking of the wrong guy then sorry to Jon!). He’s not like actively terrible, I can’t exactly put my finger on why so I feel a bit bad saying this, but I guess he just constantly praises the coaches and refs and players for being great, harps on old school type things, and doesn’t really add any humor or interesting insights.

He's fairly terrible, imo.

Crispin wants to be a poor man's Dan Dakich, and both of them are in absolute love with the sound of their voice. I hate Crispin games.

Don't agree. Dakich just likes to throw out asinine derogatory statements. Crispin likes to talk but is mostly positive.

As an aside, I don't get why TV commentators need to fill every second with talking. Unlike radio, the TV viewer can see what is going on and doesn't need constant jabbering. It will never happen, but I sure wish TV people could move to a "less is more" approach. Pat Summerall was great at that.

From the Shon vault: “In my heyday I couldn’t jump over the Evanston phone book.”

Referring to his WR archival photo (with his then ample hair flying):
“If you look close you can see a nest of condors in there.”

The other night during the Nebraska game, Shon said something like this (paraphrasing): “He’s like nuclear energy. If not under control, it can do a lot of damage and he wasn’t in control of his game in the first half. Under control, it produces a lot of good— and he’s been under control since halftime“. Shon’s a treasure!

When did we play Nebraska the other night?

I’d like to hear Benetti and Morris announce a game together. It would be far better than the game itself. But they work for different networks....

I don't mind Crispin, but I'll take Shon every day of the week and twice when the "Cats are playing.

When is the last time Shon has called one of our games? I feel like it's been a while, but I may have missed a game.

Have always enjoyed Shon's commentary. Haven't seen him in years, but when I do I can always get a laugh out of him from when we first met. He and my wife have/had lots of mutual friends.

Is it safe to say he Is not under consideration for the AD's job?
