Should I waste time wandering through various bracketologies?

I just spent like 20 minutes clicking on a bunch of links on this Bracket Project page. A bunch of prognosticators have NU as high as a seventh seed, and there were lots of other predictions of 8, 9, 10, and 11. Not a lot of "last four in" and "last four out" predictions. Most have NU safely in right now. Obviously lots of basketball left, and predictions in January mean different things to different people (some people try to project out the rest of the season, others just take the current resume and nothing else). Still, it's fun to see the Cats here, rather than elsewhere.

Makes little sense to look at them at this point, imo. Case in point; most bracketologists likely have Indiana as a decent seed, but if they keep playing this pass-the-ball-to-the-other-team offense and matador defense, they may be a decent seed allright-- in the NIT.

The way this BIG season is shaping up, with the parity on display, I'd say wait till at least late February!

Here's what gets to me: if we make it, the most likely scenario is that we just *barely* make it. Of course, it's theoretically possible that we cruise in as a 6 seed, but an 11 or 12 is so much more likely.

Agree. That's why I don't pay much attention to the bracketology early in the season... but I understand some people enjoy it.

I'm the guy asking where the good wins are going to come from. And admittedly, it's pretty early to ask that question or drag yourself through weeks of click bait.

This may not be the best B10, but it's going to be wild conference. I think teams are going to be all over a bracketologist's board for several weeks. Good luck if you want to follow that.

I wouldn't bother unless it makes you happy to see NU in the bracket. There's too many data points (ie games) left to play. If we get 11 wins in the Big Ten, we're in. If we get 9 we're out. 10 I dunno.

This seems to be the bottom line, regardless of what week-by-week or day-by-day bracketology says. Of course, there is some wiggle room with the BTT. We could possibly play ourselves in from 9 or 10 regular season conference wins. But bracketology in January has nothing to do with that. To the OP, knock yourself out with bracketology if it's fun for you. Or, instead, try geeking out with tempo free stats to study upcoming opponents. Some might consider this a waste of time, too...but it can be fun before the games and then actually insightful when you watch our games unfold live.
