No.
If they want to built a statue build it of Paul Bear Bryant who coached us to a national championship. Why those running the program over the years never embraced the legacy of Bryant is beyond me. people will say "well no one associates The Bear with Kentucky" yea that's right becasue we never laid claim to him, instead we named the football field after a basketball player.
Can't agree with you more!!
I've been pushing this for over a decade on here and I feel that most posters end up agreeing that this should be done.
The Bear was at Kentucky for
EIGHT SEASONS!! So many fans are under the mistaken belief that he was here and then ran off as soon as he had some success.
The Bear remains the
WINNINGEST COACH IN UK HISTORY. His 60 wins is still 13 more than second place (Curci).
The Bear took UK to
4 bowls in his 8 seasons. This was back when it was actually difficult to get to a bowl. This included appearances in the
Sugar, Orange and Cotton Bowls.
The Bear went
60-23-5 while at UK for a
72% winning percentage. No other coach before that era and most certainly after that era comes close to that level of sustained winning at UK.
It's actually absurd that UK has not embraced this era more than it has and it's ridiculous that UK has failed to recognize the unique greatness that was the Bear Bryant era at UK.
