Should UK be worried about Alabama's offer to QB commit Mac Jones?

And Bama is the favorite for, and very close to landing a commitment from, Tua Tagovailoa. So hopefully he commits to them soon so all this can be put to rest.

Mac Jones will be a cat. JMOP
Sure Bama has offered as have many others, plus he will get more major offers in the future. I Just fell like he will enjoy the process, Have fun, which he should do, and be a cat in Feb. He knew when he made the statement, solid for UK, he was going to get several more major offers. I think He is a young man who keeps his word.
Now I feel like he is the best QB prospect, we have had since Tim Couch. No dis respect for our former or current QB'S. Simply put, he plays in Florida,which should speak for itself.
Nothing is set in stone until Feb. I just say we should chill out about all the rumblings, and I feel we will get him.

Not sure if they need to worry about Bama, but you can bet your house the Florida powers are going to offer sooner rather than later along with other power programs. Kid is blowing up and it will take everything UK has to keep him on board. Its absolutely crucial this offense gets moving this coming season and Stoops finds a way to make a bowl game. He may still be solid, but its fair to say the kid wants to see more from this team on the field this coming season.

FSU = Bailey Hockman - 4 Star
UF = Jake Allen - 4 Star
Miami = N'Kosi Perry and Cade Weldon (both high 3-Stars that are probably underrated - Tennessee really wanted Perry)

Kentucky is all in on Mac while others are either late to the party or have yet to give him a sniff. I think that in itself makes Kentucky the favorite. Add to that his hypothetical position on the depth chart and it looks like a near ideal situation for a QB like him.

I think we are in great shape here.

I am not worried about it, nor do I think I should be. I am not saying he will not change his mind, rather why should I worry about what a kid may or may not do? It happens, kids change their minds all the time. The fans better get used to this because the better the players we recruit, then the more people will try to flip them from us. It will be a whole lot more common in the future. It has already gotten more common. No one wants to flip MAC level talent, at least none of the big boys that is. So since we are now recruiting better talent, then the attempts to flip our commits will happen more and more

The kid will go where he goes...we've lost plenty over the years.No One player, no matter how good, will normally make or break a season.

At the same time, would you have thought five years ago that teams like Alabama would've bother with the kids our coaches were after? We were recruiting against Central Michigan and Miami of Ohio.

if any UK fans are worried, there really is only 1 thing right now in your power to do about it:

show up at the Blue/White game on Saturday so that Mac & every other committed or thinking of joining UK recruit can see our wonderful fanbase supporting the program
Alabama's spring game is Saturday, too. Wonder which one, if any, Jones will be at...

I'm going to take him at his word, he's said he's shutting it down and is fully committed to UK. Yes, that was prior to the Bama offer but he had to know other offers were on the horizon. We'll see but I'm going with his original statement.

That is not exactly what he said. His quote left a little wiggle room.

If you're not worried about Alabama football then nothing in this life should bother you.

This ^^^^ is the best take. I said this exact thing a long time ago (toot toot) . . . that he was going to blow up and some big names would come calling but the only suitors I worried about were the Florida schools. But also added that he was so solid with UK that even those guys would have a hard time pulling him away short of another disappointing year that steals all the good vibes.

The advantage UK has is fell in love with the place first and that set a good hook, the fact that the depth chart sets up well for him was some good gravy but the foundation was he really liked it here. If it were the reverse it might be easier to pull him away. And it's not like he didn't believe bigger schools wouldn't be coming later anyway, even while he was reaffirming his commitment to UK.

So I'll put it this way and shut up, he's UK's to lose but it won't be to Alabama

At the stage our program is currently at, you should be worried whenever a top program offers one of our commits. I have never had more faith in a coaching staff at UK when it comes to recruiting. With that said, we are still Kentucky. Picture South Carolina getting a commitment from a top basketball prospect... then UK offers. It is the same concept.

except for the fact that all three of the Florida Powers curly have quarterback commitments and Miami has two. so you getting a little ahead of yourself assuming they're going to offer Jones as well

But hey, even when you don't make the Big Dance at South Carolina they still call you with an invite! LOL
