Ram’s played last night. Neal had 29 pts plus steals and assists. Big game Monday against Reagan. Plus Reidsville has a 62 game winning streak leading the nation.

What I was meaning…basketball is now more important than playing in shrine bowl.
Exactly. Immediately after the football team returned from Hickory, Dionte and Kendre and the other football players that play basketball went to the gym to practice with the basketball team.

So let us get this straight.

None of the players, from North Carolina or South Carolina, in yesterday’s Shrine Bowl had secured scholarships, were headed to early enrollment, or played basketball for their high school.

Only Neal and Harrison were in that position.

You want to try that again?
Are you clueless on what the Shrine Bowl represents?
Why did your program allow Neal to be the poster boy for this year’s game promotion, and then choose not to show up?
He knew basketball was coming.

Winning streak?
What do y'all teach up there?

I’m trying to say the Shrine Bowl is a great cause for the Shriners Hospital. They raise a lot of money for those hospitals.

The game is not as “big” as it was 20 and 30 years ago. Who’s who played in it…the best in both states. It’s just like everything else things change. College coaches advise some of the kids not to play due to them wanting them to early enroll. Several top players decline whatever the reasons are.

You ask many a player 20+ years ago and they would all say it was an honor to rep their state in an all-star game but now it’s about the individual.

We have 4 all-star game going on the same time.

Shrine Bowl
East-West All-Star
Queen City Bowl
All Star game in the east with 252 vs 919 area codes

Up here we teach a pretty advanced concept, so bear with me.
If you’re playing a football game and the score is 24–20, and you have the 24, you’re winning. I know — cutting-edge stuff.
What do they teach down in Shelby?
If you’re down 24–20, call it domination, summon the three hairy-legged cheerleaders, declare victory retroactively, and insist you were “about to overtake” a team that never trailed — all while coming off a losing stretch and watching the other side score again.
It’s an interesting philosophy.
You’re funny in a very predictable way. When things aren’t going well, you go quiet — like the last few years. Then you manage to stay even with Reidsville for a minute and suddenly you’re world beaters, historians of the game, and moral arbiters of who attended which recognition event.
And about Neal and Harrison — you sure do seem deeply invested in their calendars. Funny how that works. Two kids from Reidsville living rent-free in your head while handling actual postseason commitments. I’ll see if I can get you their itinerary. Maybe we can pencil you in to watch Neal play basketball.
Just a heads-up, though: the last couple of trips Shelby made to Reidsville didn’t go so well. But maybe without all that pressure, you’d enjoy the visit more.
As for the Shrine Bowl outrage — calling it “dodging” is rich. It’s an honor, yes. But priorities matter. Parades can wait. Real work doesn’t.
And one last thing — if you can’t pass the leader while the leader naps, the leader is still the leader.
They teach us that up here too.

Not really sure if it’s about proximity, but the Shrine Bowl seems to have had more importance to folks in the western part of the state. Traditionally around the Triad, the East-West seems to have been more highly regarded.

Thank you, Deana, and we feel your take on it is real, although very sad.

“ Playing basketball is more important than the Shrine Bowl”
“You ask many a player 20+ years ago and they would all say it was an honor to rep their state in an all-star game but now it’s about the individual.”

That attitude is wrong and harmful to society, and a big time part of the problems with our youth culture.
Why not encourage some sacrifice, even a small risk, to teach these young people that it is NOT just about you. It is about also helping others, especially when you have a platform so easy to do it from.

Sorry, but we have to disagree that it is acceptable.

But there is more.

It is one thing to deny participation early in the process, as Copper and apparently Harrison did, but is quite another to stay in the event, appear on the roster, and even permit the Shrine Bowl to use your program’s player for promotional purposes…and then just bail.
This is not just a Reidsville thing.
We would feel this way even if it was a Golden Lion.
That is just not right.
Agree?

What is the story with Neal quitting the Shrine Bowl?
We appreciate your response, Deana, but you are not a spokesman for the program.
Don’t get caught up with them and be the next Q homer.
And we have no interest in hearing what this 12 year old child that posts for Reidsville has to say.

Come on mule and the rest of the inside the program posters.
Tell us what gives?
Right now…it’s a bad look.

I’m obviously not an inside-the-program poster but I can honestly say it probably bothers no one to the extent it has you(y’all).

Ten to twenty years from now, will this matter much? For almost everyone, the answer will be, “No.” That probably includes you as well.

I hate to say it but you have a terrible take on the Shrine bowl. That week means a lot to those kids. The players visiting in the hospitals to see them and spend some time with them before Christmas is priceless. Hopefully some of those kids left with a little different look on life. Cause one of those kids could have been one of them or us. This game needs to be pushed for what it’s really about. Those kids!! DJ wasn’t selected to begin with. None of the online rosters will have his name. He got in either from one that didn’t go or was hurt and couldn’t go but either way he was super excited to get that chance. His Auntie runs an in-home health service. DJ wants to go to college to be an RN and work in that business so going to the Shrine Bowl actually meant something to him.

Neal is playing basketball and his goal is to win another title in that. You can’t blame the kid for doing that. I believe he made that clear when they invited him. May be how DJ was selected I really don’t know. I only mentioned Copper cause we heard in the stands he just didn’t show up which cost a spot on the N.C. roster. But that may not be reliable according to what Trey had posted.

Since this seems like your not talking out of your bungchute for a change, Ill give you honest answers

1. Dont think anyone from Reidsville had anything to do with "allowing" the Shrine Bowl to use Neal for promotion. Never heard of that from any school, but thats a process Ive never been a part of.

2. Anyone that knows Neal knows/knew football was never his top option: that has always been basketball. Participating in the Shrine Bowl would mean either 1) Rams basketball season pushed back another week or 2) basketball team begins play without their top player. Tht win streak means a lot to those guys and they want to extend as long as possible.

3. I do not know one way or the other, but Neal isnt the type to just "no show". Im sure he communicated he wouldnt attend at some point, and that was evidently after promotions were already committed to.

4. Neal may have not wanted to risk unnecessary injury that would have affected his basketball future. 100% understandable.

My views are from covering kids from the 90s to now. It’s a whole different ballgame.

Otis, You may have mistook what my statements meant. I was talking about the kids that decline and don’t want to play in it for whatever reasons. The ones that do spend that week make a lot of memories and are involved in great things outside the actual game. The slogan “Strong Legs Run That Weak Legs May Walk" is very true.

I always went when the game was in Charlotte. I went 3 times in Rock Hill….one was a loaded NC team led by Chris Leak. I think I went one time to Wofford. I always thought the move affected NC especially ENC families and fans driving all the way to Spartanburg.

Lastly for the Shelby trio, I’m a homer to the Rams that reside in Boonville. Not taking up for anyone just stating some reasons why kids decline or decide not to play.

Why are we not surprised?
So we are left with an obvious snub of the historic, two state charity event.
Must have been handled poorly.

Combined with Harrison’s antics at the end of the basketball final, you now have earned a new name. Kinda goes along with the football bogus claim nonsense.
“The Arrogance capitol (sic) of North Carolina…the real class act.”

Hopefully, a staff member/spokesman will step forward and explain what happened.
But it appears they are reluctant to.

How do we the Record Holders of TWENTY-FOUR STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS owe you three buffoons an explanation of anything. If you three are Shelby's example of a real class act......Cleveland county is in poor shape. Ya'll are in desperate need of some transfers.

Id ask if you are really this mental, but you prove it daily on here and Facebook. Is it the blow? Huffing gas at work again? Is it the internal torment you have by sending your own blood to Crest and they dont even play ball? Because that must suck.

Our name is earned by definition and by historical fact. Not opinion.
Prove it mistaken by historical facts and definition. Go ahead.
We could not drop that reference even if we wanted to. It is a fact.

Capitol (sic), if you are arrogant enough to self proclaim it, would refer to a consistent winner over decades, against all similar competition.
Reidsville has neither.

31 consecutive recent year drought.
Within the last 50 years.
You can fool the media, who is too lazy to research the actual history, but the truth is the truth and YOU know it.
1 title where Reidsville played all within its classification. The rest were where rival associations and sub classes significantly diminished the competitive field.

You are the capitol (sic) of nothing.

And the Golden Lions of Shelby are the most successful, sustained, winningest high school football program in North Carolina.
By definition and historical fact. Not opinion.

Hey Man, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to ya. Me and Helga ain't together no more. She split couple of weeks ago. Yeah she met some dude down in Durham. He must have been from Texas. Somebody that knows said the dude was from Waco. I don't believe though. That's too far away.
