3/4ths of the board will need to change their underwear after that ad.

-I'm on the feather blades as well...had a merkur razor that I liked but it fell from the shelf one too many times. Picked up a cheap one a Marshall's...does a good job but gets easily clogged. Need to grab a new one...I'll check on rockwell.

I tried feather blades, but I must lack the fine motor skills to not lose a pint of blood with them. Those f**kers are ridiculously lethal.

I actually use my grandfather's old brass safety razor with Gillette Platinum Blue blades.

wildcatadam is the one that uses a GD straight razor. Isn't that correct? I like a close shave but no way I trust myself with one of those.
I use straight razors as well. Most are from the 1800s. I think Wade & Butcher made the best. If I'm in a hurry I use my Merkur 38c DE razor and Shark, Feather, and Parker blades. Astra's are good too but I'm out of those and will never need to buy more blades unless I live to be like 120.

You might check with Stirling too. They make a really good DE razor if you can handle an aggressive cut. Stirling also has some decent soaps

The thing I really like about the Rockwell is you can adjust the "closeness" of the shave by using the different plates (it comes with three plates, and each side is a different setting).

It is objectively hilarious and the right spirit. I like the idea of making a product instead of just bitching about someone else's politics, like 99.9999999999999% of the rest of humanity (or at least those on the internet) seem to do these days.

Not sure how anyone could be against that, tbh. It says who it is for, who it isn't for, and is funny. It would be a delight if everything in this day and age was like that.

Oh those bastards are indeed surgical lol. I have a barely discernable (about 2 mm diameter) flesh-colored mole on my cheek that I'd bet only sticks out 1/64", so we're not talking a John-Boy level lesion. On occasion after shaving with the closest plate and a Feather blade, after about 5-10 minutes a faint outline of blood will appear over the mole. I guess it takes that long because the layer of skin removed is so f#cking thin. Amazing really.

Yeah absolutely zero chance I'll (a) personally ever use a straight razor, or (b) let anyone else ever use one on me.

I hate shaving. If I didn’t have the old double chin, I probably wouldn’t do it at all.

shaving in the shower cannot be beat. My problem is that I'll buy a fogless mirror, and it never seems to work. But you're right, it really IS the most comfortable/easiest shave you can have, if you can see what you're doing.
All you have to do is rub a little soap on it and it won’t fog. I have a ****** ten year old “fogless” mirror that immediately fogs and that’s all I do.

What shaving cream/lotion do you all use? I used to do Proraso but when I found Cremo sandalwood I converted. Love that stuff.
I use something called kiss my face. Just put a dollop in a bowl, hit it with the brush and it makes a nice lather.

If you prep correctly, then the sink shave is all you need and preferable.

I have a totally random story about expensive Gillette razors.

My previous job was for a packing machine manufacturer here in NKY. It was standard practice for companies to provide samples of their product for design and testing purposes.

The employees were often given samples when the testing was complete. Beer, cereal, etc., all kinds of stuff.

They were building three machine lines for Gillette and had more than a few pallets of those Mach Three Razors. So yeah, they had to treat those things like Cryptographic Keying Materials.

The Project Manager would shake his head and say, "Don't Even Ask." I seem to remember that we had to give a PO for any razors that were not returned.

They were even marked Not Suitable For Human Consumption or some such thing.

I use Dollar Shave Club 6 blade razors and shave butter. I shave in the shower w/o a mirror. I ****ing hate shaving. I've tried growing a beard several times, but can't get past a week or two without it itching like Hell and just being annoying in general. In addition, my beard goes from the consistency of coarse sandpaper after a few days to a stiff wire brush. I wish I could find a wet/dry electric that would work. I've tried a few over the years, but it's probably been 20 years since I last tried one.

I have shaved in the shower for maybe 30 yrs.....never had a mirror.....I shave by feel...........at this point it is muscle memory......Dollar Shave Club for me........I drilled the water saver out of the shower head.........we have a tankless water heater.......I take the opportunity to let the shower massage my old back and neck while shaving..................don't get in line behind me if you are in a hurry for a shower......

TolietTree products have a great fog less mirror that you can get on Amazon. I've used for a decade now. You fill with hot water from the shower and it stays clear for 20+ mins. Its sturdy as hell, I had to leave my first one in my old house because it was going to pull the shower tile off trying to remove. Its a game changer if you shave in the shower.

Use DE only, rotate between a few but prefer short handle My favorite blades are Astra, I can get more control without slicing myself up. Rarely get a nic, maybe twice a year. Keep a cheap disposable just to go over back of neck. I like trying different shave soaps, and one container will last for-effing forever.

A little dab of Pinaud Clubman. Profit.

I will stick with my Harry's Razors and not succumb to another right-wing grift. Also I only use the razors on my neck as I keep a beard year round. Haven't stayed clean shaven in nearly 20 years. I like keeping the hairline/beardline and the back of the neck neat looking decent.

Noticed that “grift” is a favorite word among a few of our liberal posters here.

I bought a 12-pack of blade cartridges like two years ago and I haven't even used half of them yet.
