You can tell this writer really did his homework when basically says there is nothing to be excited about other than Boom.

And then drags out the cliché...."were all just sitting around anyway, waiting for basketball season".

Could 3-9 happen....sure, injuries and depth can make most any teams season go completely awry.

But even with our apparent weaknesses, this would be the absolute minimum of what we could hope for this year.

3-9 is really hard to justify for someone that actually knows football. That goes beyond any realistic worse case scenario. The worst I can see is 5 wins. Again it just shows how bad some of these writers are at their job.

This team wins 3 without trying. If they beat S.Miss then that puts Missouri, USC and Vandy on the table as well as the Miss St. game.

Makes one wonder if this writer even bothered to look at the schedule to see who we play this season? Sure,there are many questions about this year's edition of the Cats but there are also several things to like about them as well,the RB,WR and DB positions look strong,overall I think the LB's will be better and we will get more help from the OC than we did last year.

3-9 is just as silly as 9-3,5-7 to 7-5 will probably cover the W-L spread for this season

The guy who wrote the article is Gabriel Baumgaertner. He's a college football producer for CampusRush.com and he edits the Campus Correspondents for CampusRush.com. (Whatever in the heck that means).

This is becoming fairly common all over. It seems anybody with a pulse can now write articles for what seem to be or used to be credible sports news outlets.

I think the Southern Miss game will kinda tell where they might be.

I don't think the writer of that article did any homework to be able to make a reasonable educated guess concerning UK's record for the upcoming season. But, in his defense, there is nothing that has happened on the field over the last three seasons to make anyone think this season will be any different than what we have seen in the past. Predicting only a 3 win season seems a little harsh but, who knows. Unless there is better overall coaching and unless we see better player development the writer could be correct. Let us hope that is not the case.

If this prediction turns out to be true, we are in trouble for a lot of years to come. A 3-9 season would likely kill recruiting next year, and the whole coaching staff would be in trouble. Many of our commitments would jump ship and, well, when is basketball season? But this is not going to be a 3-9 season. We'll know more after the first couple games.

Cats will NOT go 3-9. There's no way that happens this year. The guy just looked, saw UK football, and made an assumption. Terrible take.

3-9 could very well get Stoops fired after this season. I say that knowing about his contract situation. 3-9 would be such a gut punch to this fanbase, recruiting, etc. that Stoops would never recover from.

I will continue to say 6-6 and with a few breaks 7-5. Last year's team blew three wins even with all the issues going on. With good momentum, KY may have beaten a struggling UGA and had more confidence to finish UofL as well. Point being, yeah it is a case of what if's but the point is the talent was there to have done some great things last season if not for all the issues inside the program.

With another year of maturation and development, I would be shocked if this team cannot close out at least 1 more win compared to last season especially with a schedule difficulty that is about the same as last season. Just get better ST play, defense can at least bend but do not break and create some turnovers, and the offense leads the way to some more wins.

Im sorry but we have won 5 the last two years with no offense and mediocre defenses. This team has way to much talent to win less than 6 games. I would be absolutely shocked with 3 wins.

You've already predicted a USM loss....where do you see the possibility of 4 or 5?

From USM site" I expect a high scoring game that UK eventually loses. However a UK win wouldn't surprise me." Dakota25

If all things go completely wrong I could potentially see three wins, but this team can absolutely go bowling. 6 wins is absolutely possible.

3-9 is very doubtful. But who knows - just because we have more talent and last year's team imploded doesn't necessarily guarantee better results this year. Each year is different, is it's own.

The main point is that national writers - even good ones - can only cover so much. A guy for SI or ESPN is likely pretty familiar with Bama and Clemson and Oklahoma. He can't reasonably know much about the 7th place team in some conference, even the SEC. The local guys, even the poor ones, know much more about the local teams......

It goes on and on and will continue to go on and on until UK changes the out of state perception of UK football. And that will be done on the basis of performance, not potential.

Actually, he has us at 3-9 overall, 1-7 in SEC play. I assume he projects us to beat NMSU and APSU, and lose to SMU and UL in OOC play. No idea who he thinks we would manage to beat in conference play.

I think the 6-6, 3-5 mark he has for Vandy is about where we'll end up.

3-9 is an extremely pessimistic outlook for this season.

However, if we don't take care of Southern Miss in that 1st game, the season could spiral downward quickly.

I'm sure the writer of this article was looking at the fact that we lost several starters on defense and we have a QB that has very little experience.

If Coach Stoops can't get to 6-6 with at least a 3-5 SEC record in year 4, our program is in TROUBLE!!

I'm sure the author spent all of 15 minutes in researching this.
Pretty pathetic for a major sports publication.. You could go to any average fan on another SEC board and they would have a better grasp of our team and the other SEC teams then this clown, who probably got paid a few hundred dollars for writing this crap.
