Illinois Basketball is the number one sports program on their campus, by far. Iowa Basketball is arguably fourth on the Iowa campus. Hopefully that’s changing with addition of Ben. Iowa needs to spend the money Illinois does for their basketball program and Iowa will be fine.

I don’t dislike this Illinois team like I did some in years past. They don’t play dirty, have elite talent, are hitting their stride, and Underwood seems like one of the good guys in coaching. Would much rather see them win it all over UConn or Duke. I could be saying this because it’s been a while that I’ve dealt with any of their fans though too…

The score was cliser than the game.
What game are you talking about? Iowa was leading Illinois 51-50 with 7 minutes to play and trailed by 4 with 2 minutes left--and if the officials had called the offensive goal tending that even the Illinois broadcast crew on TBS recognized--it would have been a TWO-POINT GAME with 2 minutes to play. Iowa led for 63% of the game. The final score was Illinois' largest margin and failed to reflect how close this game was until the final 60 seconds. Those are facts, BTW, and you could look them up if you knew how.

Best team money can buy my God. Basicly the Serbian national team. Looked like men vs boys I knew it was a bad matchup.
And yet if the officials had called the game the same way on both ends, Iowa could easily have won. As it was, the Hawkeyes were only down 4 with two minutes to play.

true but they stayed in the game until 3/4 minutes left.
Yes but by hitting shots, not winning the boards. Several if the Hawks were bullied

Get over it. Re watch the game without knowing the score. IL had more O rebounds that Iowa had total. That is a drubbing.

Aside from spelling, Iowa was crushed on the boards. That was the main aspect
"Crushed" is a pretty accurate description since Illinois was playing rugby and Iowa was playing basketball. How is it, do you suppose, that Iowa tied #1 Florida on the boards, the defending national champions and the leading rebounding team in the country (+15 per game)--and that includes Illinois--yet couldn't come close to that yesterday? Did Iowa suddenly forget how to box out and jump? LOL

Iowa was being manhandled all night long in ways that are patently prohibited by the rules of basketball. Fighting for your life all night drains you, and that really impacts your jump shot. So again, with Illinois playing rugby and Iowa playing basketball, it wasn't exactly a fair fight. And yet that's all we wanted. Just call the game the same on both ends, and let's see who wins. But no, Iowa can't get that, not even in an Elite Eight game.
