In an effort to forget about another Cats loss I went out today to a restaurant specifically to watch Trevor on the Saints play. He’s 5 for 10 right now, and if you are watching the game, you’d be sharing my frustration for all the dropped passes. 5 so far. All good balls into the receivers hands. A couple has the defender’s hands but man…TS could use some help from his receivers. Here’s hoping they all turn it around and have a great rest of the game.

Go (alum) Cats!

Siemian’s got the lead. From 24-6 ATL, to 25-24 Saints. A minute left.

Update: Looks like the Falcons will win.
Update: They did.

I didn’t get to see it, but apparently Newsome was kicking Jamar Chase’s butt today.

Sounds like Trevor worked some mojo in the second half vs. the Falcons. Unfortunately the Saints gave up a chunk play that puts the Falcons in position to kick that FG to win the game as time expired.

Watched it/. Announcers were praising Chase but Greg made some spectacular plays and earned his draft position.

Trevor played well enough to win - esp. once SP took the handcuffs off and the targets started catching the passes thrown to him.

At least 8 drops; at one point in the 1st half, TS was 5 for 11 with 5 drops.

The 7 offensive penalties (including one which took away a huge Kamera play) also stalled drives.

Don't know what game they were watching, but several analysts placed the loss on Siemian.

Think I'll go with what Payton thinks - too many dropped balls, penalties and not putting Trevor in a position to succeed (too many 3rd and longs).

Doesn't get credit for last week's win (despite entering the game early and even), gets credit for the Jets loss where he got hurt early - and despite playing pretty well today, gets another loss tacked onto his starting record.

But if TS keeps playing like this, he'll soon earn himself a bigger paycheck (even as a backup QB).

The Chargers won over the Eagles. Jackson saw no action. Slater had another fine game. Don’t know if Gaz saw the field today.

If I’m not mistaken Jackson was out injured
You are right, he’s still out with injured quads.
OUT

CB Michael Davis (hamstring)
RB Justin Jackson (quadricep)
CB Asante Samuel Jr. (concussion)

I thought I had downloaded the Chargers roster for today’s game and he was listed on it but maybe grabbed the wrong game roster. JJ just can’t stay healthy which is too bad because I think he’s missing out on a lot of potential playing time this year as Ekeler’s backup.

It is kind of bizarre how JJTBC never missed a game due to injury at NU that I can recall despite all his carries.

And now in the NFL, he can’t stay healthy to capitalize on opportunities like this season to finally have his breakout year. Guess it speaks to just how intense that ultimate level of football is.

And the issues he's having all seem to be muscle pulls, not the kind of structural damage violence in the NFL causes.......

The Saints self destructed. Multiple drive killing penalties and 7-8 drops by well thrown TS passes. He looked much better today

This is why GMs look at how many carries RBs have as I understand it. JJTBC had an insane workload with us and his body might just now be showing the wear and tear.

Also had a ridiculous workload in high school. The hits start adding up at some point, even if JJTBC was ridiculously good at avoiding too many direct hits.

Really don't want to give these "analysts" more attention than they deserve, but did they even watch the game or ate merely going by the stats and halftime score?

What a horribly misinformed take...

7. We can’t rule out more moves at QB for the Saints. Maybe it will be starting Taysom Hill, the player who Sean Payton in the very recent past was so eager to get on the field that he was willing to take Drew Brees off it. Maybe it will be giving rookie Ian Book, a Conor Orr preseason sleeper for 2021, a look. Maybe it will be bringing in a free agent. But the Saints have a defense capable of shutting down defending MVP Aaron Rodgers in the opener and defending Super Bowl champion Tom Brady last week, meaning they should be able to compete with anyone. Trevor Siemian rallied in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Falcons after a lackluster start, but with games against the Titans, Bills and Cowboys in the next month, it’s very possible the Saints will be looking for other answers at the QB position to make the most out of the season.

What the Saints are looking for are answers to the WR/TE grouping, possibly the worst in the NFL.

Now, Payton may give more snaps to Hill as he gets further along from his concussion, but don't see them looking to bring in another QB.

Aside from the drops and penalties, lack of separation from his targets also made Trevor's job tougher than it had to be.

Compare to what Ryan had to work with and doesn't include Patterson, who's listed as a RB even tho he played WR in college (if the Saints had Patterson, they win that game hands down).

(What one Saints fan compiled - likely doesn't take into account any possibke YAC) -

Accounting for drops.
33-41 369 yds 2 TDs 0 Ints, 120.49 QB Rating

4th quarter
13-18 142 yds, 2 TDs, 132.2 QB Rating

Last 3 drives
11-15 111 yds 2 TDs, 133.6 QB Rating

Gotta like the commenter with the Austin Carr handle...

Speaking of Carr, know he retired, but man, the Saints could use a receiver with sure hands.
