Didn't make myself clear, was talking hypothetically. My bad. Still, that's the way this thing is played. College coaches pay HS coaches to funnel players their way. If the HS coach fails he's not paid. If your guy is an unpaid asst worth tens of millions...good for him, it's good he'd donates his time.

I have no idea what kind of player Porter is. That he has poor HS stats are unimportant, not his fault his QB can't throw. Let's hope he turns out to be a great player.
If we are talking public school coaches that may be true. Private school coaches, at least those here in the Nashville area are being paid $200K-$300K to coach(I was shocked to learn this). If you look at the distribution of where the kids go…it’s anywhere and everywhere.
What incentive does anyone have to “talk down” a player? Do their words affect the performance of the player? If anything it’s a) a challenge to the player to prove the coach wrong; or b) the coach was right with their assessment.
Personally as a UK fan I hope he(the coach) is proven wrong. As someone I’ve known for over 27 years I trust that it is his honest opinion.

Tell him to just enroll at Kentucky, show up every single day and bug the absolute poo out of the coaches! Show them you’re serious about playing at Kentucky and only Kentucky whether they like it or not! Pull a damn Rudy on them. Haha. Man what a story! and the winning Kick to beat Georgia for the East title in two years is right down the middle! Bam! Get it done.
Well that would be all well and good, but he will go someplace that wants him and offers him a chance to play. Not someplace he has to beg. If UK doesn’t want him then so be it. He will go somewhere that does. He has options, just would have loved if UK was one of them.

He can always go somewhere else if he is unhappy where he wants to be. But get this thing started where you want to be, show up and work harder than the others and see what happens. If he is the best one he will get a scolly and be at his top school. If not, he can always go somewhere else in a couple of years.

It should be noted that rqarnold welched on a bet for years, so while what he is saying may be true, there is also that to consider.

I am good friends with Shamar’s position coach and live right down the street from his head coach. The position coach who I have known for 27 years told me that unless Shamar really changes, said he will never make it at the SEC level. Has all the tools…size, speed and hands but shies away from contact. Looks all world in 7 on 7 but as soon as he gets hit, gets timid. Quote, “UK will chew him up and spit him out. He will be at 5 schools in 5 years because everyone will think they can change him.” . Said he is a great kid, great athlete, just not a great football player.
second post from you about Porter.... both saying the same thing.... I think we know your opinion on him.

The coach who told me is an unpaid assistant, sits on the BoD for the school and is probably worth north of $50 million. I don’t think he’s worried about losing “street agent” money.
the 50 mill guy could lend you a few dollars to pay off a bad bet?

Anglin another I wonder if he is really a 4 star? Reported offers from AL, Penn St and TN, if that is true could be a little underrated maybe?
I've noticed the difference from a 3 to a 4 star is often being physically mature enough as a prospect to play right away.

Anglin may very well have 4 star talent but he's going to need a year in the weight room first..so he's a high 3 star.

Alex Afari for example was 4 stars and ready to go out of the gate.

Wasn’t trying to offend you or him my friend. I personally would love to see him at UK as well. I’m sure it’s not a matter of not wanting him, they have to do what they think is best at the time and it’s a tough decision I’m sure. Best of luck to him. You have a good evening.
