In the portal. Big, talented, strong, physical guard. 6-5, CG was only a sophomore last year. Would love to have this kid.
2 way player, averaged 13.5 ppg / 4 rpg / 3 apg / 2 steals.
Shot 38% from 3FG on 4.7 attempts per game
80% free throw shooter on 4.8 attempts.
Averaged 33 minutes per game his sophomore year this year.

Freshman year : 28 mpg / 9.7 ppg / 3.8 rpg / 2.5 apg / 1.4 steals per game.

Solid but consistent jump from freshman to sophomore year, if he makes another jump, All SEC is a definite possibility. Could he be the SEC player scheduled to have a Zoom meeting with UK ?

vs UK 14 points (on 5 shots / 2/3 from 3 / 8/8 ft) 4 rebounds / 3 assist / 1 steal / 1 block
Last 5 games :
Gonzaga - 15/2/4 2 steals
Oklahoma - 24/3/3 2 steals / 5/12 from 3.
Vandy - 15/2/1 3 steals / 1 block
Texas - 26/4/1 2 steals / 3/6 from 3.
SC - 16/8/4

Other notable games :
Marquette - 10/7/4 3 steals / 1 block
St. Johns - 15/4/2
Miss. State - 23/6/7
@ Texas A&M - 19/3/4
Missouri - 18/3/4 3 steals
@ Auburn - 18/3/4 3 steals
Florida - 21/3/3

Can make a case for Silas at UK along with dozens of others. He has the stats - is he a fit for CMP’s system? Who knows.
There are good to great basketball players available and I am certain that Coach will not have to search but identify those that want to win #9 or hopefully #10 next year!

Thoughts ? Not Dent or Smith, but also has 2 years remaining. Definitely the better defender of the 3. He could easily average the same points as those 2, but he had Newell and a very balanced roster in scoring after Newell. He was 2nd to Newell's 15.4 ppg with 13.5.

His freshman year (last year) he had his season high @ UK, 22 points. Also had 2 reb. / 4 assist / 2 steals and a block.

Well he is a more athletic, taller, better shooter Lamont Butler. So YES, he would "fit" Pope's system. ANY CG with his size, shooting, defense, PG abilities will fit his system. Did you not watch the drop off in our defense when Butler didn't play ? Demary is a very solid defensive player. His size would be a huge advantage.

So there will be "DOZENS" of others ? I doubt there will be that many players that will A. Be a better / more complete player, B. have 2 years still left to play, 3. willing to be a secondary scorer behind the star (Newell this year). He can play BOTH guard positions and play them very well. UK will NOT sign 2/3 better guards than Demary this year, I would take him TODAY. IF Dent signs with UK, he would be the PERFECT back court mate for him. Not every player is gonna be THE MAN, so you have to have players that are very good / good to go with the BIG signing. But I will say this, bookmark this post and save it, this coming year (JR.) everybody in college basketball will know this kids name. He will be a flat out stud this upcoming year, I would love to get him before he blows up. He is a STARTER type player though, he is too talented to come and be a backup. Can play the 1,2, and even the 3 if needed.

Wouldn't he be more in the mold of Oweh as opposed to a true point guard?
He lead the team in assist per game and by a pretty good margin. Also minutes per game. He plays the PG position, but with his size and strength, he can also play the 2G. He is very good defensively. Shoots better than Oweh, has a LOT better handles / passing than Oweh. Oweh only averages 1.7 apg compared to Demary's 3.1. They are the same height and weight, but Demary is more of a PG.

Would make sense for him to be at NC next year. He's from there and they lost Elliot.

Yes, I saw the drop off and it was significant.
Yes, there will be dozens of others with over 2,000 players in the portal (Last years numbers). To say he is the PERFECT back court mate is a bit of a stretch.
You and I know nothing about Silas besides his statistics. If he comes, I trust CMP and will back him 100%!

You do not have a clue what I know about Silas. I have watched the kid too many times to count. Maybe YOU know nothing but stats, but do not include me as you. And there will NOT be dozens of players as good as Silas Demary. Maybe with you, just looking at stats, yes there will be several players who average 13 ppg, blah blah blah, but how and who he gets them against as well as other parts of a players game factors a lot into a players worth. You statement tells me YOU only look at stats for the portal guys. Myself, if I make a post on something, I tend to like to know WTF I am talking about rather than look at stats.

Demary, Dent and Oweh would be crazy good together next year. Hadn't thought of that combination. Geez louise.

18,000 posts and 7,000 reactions!

It does not appear that many find your posts interesting or insightful. Include me in this group as your post lacks a cohesive thought and little mastery of the English language. How my innocuous post fired you up is bewildering to me. I was only offering my opinion and anyone is free to disagree without being combative. Likewise, “do not include me as you.”

Keep making posts because you “tend to know what you are talking about” and they are entertaining!

Well the first 8-10 years I didn't post knowledge, I was more of a a-hole calling out dumb stuff. Last several years I have dropped knowledge DAILY. Thus the likes pour in in droves. Look at my post, they USUALLY have 5-10 likes, unless it is a post calling out a non-informed / opinion stated as fact post by a poster. I do not think ALL of my opinions are right, but when I state something as fact, I use information that proves as such. When you do that, some people will not like it if it doesn't agree with their way of thinking, even if they are wrong. But, I am what I am. I do post a LOT of very informative post, check some of them out.
The part that got me posting what I did is this, YOU stated that I didn't not know anything about Demary other than stats. See right there is a issue I have, you based your opinion and because you didn't know about the player, as FACT that I didn't. Now, if that hurt your feelings, all I can say is don't try to post something of your opinion as truths about me. The old saying "don't tell no lies about me, I won't tell no truths about you." I can let bygones be bygones if you like, but I will defend my stance if not. I do not cater to ill informed post about me, just my M/O.
Good day.

He's been around since 2006. The "likes" feature didn't even start until 2015 or 2016. A bunch of older posters had thousands of posts by then. Some of us had tens of thousands. In other words, for those who have been around here for a while, the likes feature is a terrible way to assess whether people like their posts or not.

Also, I'd like to point out that a lot of those stats are wrong. Mine says I joined in 2021. I changed my user name once about a decade ago but have been posting on this same account since Gentleman Mel's Wildcat Faithful went out or not long after.

W Williams being the Swiss Army knife 6th man that can come in for anyone 1-4. Very Darius Miller-esque role that can create a ton of “hidden depth” with 1 guy. Makes you really foul trouble resistant for the 1-4 spot instead of needing to be 2 deep at every position for “fit”

No inside knowledge, but I would guess it is either or for these 2. We need 1 PG and front court players. I see 4 maybe 5 total out of the portal. 1-PG, 1SF, 1PF, 1 PF/C, possibly a 2nd wing/2G/SF with plug and play skills(Eaglestaff or Freeman or Wilkerson).

Love to be a fly on the wall in uk coaching discussions. I think JJ and Oweh can cover 2g next year. Yes, I know Oweh gets a lot of sf minutes. Yes, we add a high level pg. If we lose perry we'll definitely need to grab another guard, preferably a combo guard. He'll have to be a true team guy because he won't be starting.

Not to mention that reactions mean jack squat right now. Back when it really was just likes it meant a bit of something. RN if a guy posts something and twenty thousand people laugh him out of town is that really bragging rights?

Thanks, Did not know that. He is not someone that I want to converse with anyway. I will retract the “likes” portion of my post but stand by the rest. I don’t appreciate anyone calling me out as I don’t do that to anyone else, except this guys post. This is supposed to be fun and maybe informative. No reason to degrade another! I will just put him on ignore and enjoy other’s posts.

But you DID just that. You called me out and said the only thing I knew about Demary is from stats. Because it is all YOU know about him, you said it was all I knew. I made a post saying let bygones be bygones, but if you keep this non-sense up, I will respond. You are a narcissists, you started the BS but play the victim. "put him on ignore", are you a child ? But by all means, please do, but if you think there are not others who will not let you do that, guess your list will be pretty long. Myself, I have ZERO posters on ignore, I am a big boy and can take a few harsh words.
last post to you, not clogging up threads arguing with a narcissist.

I do wish they had a distinction for the laughing emoji. Sometimes I’m laughing with people, sometimes I’m laughing at them.. I want to be sure they know the difference.
