Despite losing to a team that is truly awful, our loss puts us in a worse bowl against, hopefully, a worse team … hopefully, and therefore a lesser chance of losing, making us all feel super duper in the off-season.

Seems so out of character for you to be angry right now.
You know i was hopefull until just after half....then fhe bad coaching decisions came home to roost. And let DR take those disastrous sacks with no consequences.
I would say so. They hadn't driven the ball on us all game long. Take out the 70 yard swing pass and Iowa doesn't get in the end zone.
That's just it you knew what was coming....crusty Ole Ferentz just schooled rhule .

If we make that short FG after the opening drive of the 2nd half, we probably win the game anyway. Or what about Nayor dropping a couple more key passes? At some point, guys have to make plays and stop helping the other team.

That's on the coaches if the are not making plays put some one else in.

I still believe the zebras got the punt ruling wrong but all things considered that cost us 3 points. It was and understandable mistake by our guy who finally touched it but I still think Iowa touched it first. Low snap cost us 3. The BIG play was the long run then of course Dylan’s second fumble of the night. Never mind the multiple open receivers he didn’t see or hit.
How about the sacks he took?

The problem is that ****** bowl teams play all of their players. The good teams have NFL-ready guys who will be prepping for the combine and pro days. Those guys won’t play in the bowl games.

I’m surprised there hasn’t been more talk about the officiating. They were awful.
They didn't call anything. There was a blatant roughing the passer that should have been called on Iowa. Neyor got a hold of an Iowa DB's facemask though. Only thing he caught.

At some point, excuses need to stop and games be won regardless

Maybe, but aren't they always awful??
Usually they’ll make a call when a WR like Banks is tackled coming out of a break on a route. Iowa’s DB literally tackled Banks several times. The one time he caught the pass going to the ground with the DB wrapped around him.

Okay you're right but we always hinge on a play or two.....that's coaching

I hate losing to Iowa and it's not a moral victory by any stretch, but we dominated most of the game. It's a good sign for the future. And if we win a bowl game and finish 7-6 heading into the off-season, it'll take a lot of the bitterness of this loss away. For me anyway.
That's just it we are mentally weak when it counts.........doesn't matter if you win everything all year . Lose the last game and your still a loser.

The silver lining for me IS that we get another game to play. A win in a bowl game, regardless of the opponent, will be another small step in the right direction.

Had that Iowa loss prevented us from bowl eligibility again this year I would be in a much more foul mood.

Do you really want to call what you’re headed to a, “bowl game?” 😂 Your bowl game was last night and hopefully that piss in your lad’s pants felt good and warm for those 30 seconds before it froze!! I’ll be watching to see your killer studs refuse to shake hands with some MAC dandy before kickoff in Detroit! Who’s bringing the oranges 🍊?! 🤡😂👄💩🥩

It will be progress from last year, and that’s what we need to show recruits to get them here. Now, Rhule will have to make changes to his staff too for us to improve off this year into next.
