where would you rank this team compared to other UK teams?

I think the contenders are:

1993
1997
1998
1999
2002
2006
2007
2008
2009

It's knocking on the door of 1999, 2008, and 2009. See how they finish up.

Yep, that one. Also, UK had a 1st year coach. Who managed to beat Bama and U of L. 1ST YEAR COACH.
And uofl was an even better 1-10. We bash stoops for his wins against bad teams ( who all our sec wins beside mizzu has beat someone they shouldn't have and aren't nearly as bad as they are made out to be on this board). those teams who went to bowls and a lot of brooks and joker teams had a built in win in uofl at that time. All they had to do was beat two sec teams. (Miss state wasn't nearly what they are with Mullins and vandy was pre Franklin. This team is as good as most of those. 07 was the best last 30 years.

UofL was a built in win ? Brooks was 3-3 vs UofL and Joker was 1-2 vs UofL. Looking back I guess the Kragthorpe Years could be considered a built in win.

Take out the the petrino years and we pretty much dominated that series. And the years we went bowling with. Brooks was exactly the kragtharp years. Jokers first year bowling was strings first year.

Actually no, you take out the Petrino years and the modern series would be 8-8.

And to expand the first bowl year we beat one sec team with a winning record (Georgia and a true freshman qb) and a central Michigan team that had a winning record.

Like I said this was Mumme's 1st year. Stoops is year 4. Huge difference. '97 team would light up this defense.

That mumme team didn't even qualify for a bowl. It beat Louisville (1-10), Indiana (2-9) some division 1a team NE Louisiana (5-7) Alabama (4-7 and (2-6 in sec with wins over vandy and ole miss) and vandy (3/8 and 0-8 in sec). That team was really not that good. There losses were not even competive. An 8 pt loss to state, Ten to Georgia, then 27, 28 and 35 of losses. To brag about that team, but ***** about this team only beating bad teams is quite laughable. This team wins this game like the mizzu game.

Actually this years mizzu team is very comparable to 97. Puts up big numbers against terrible teams, but can't compete with anyone else.

You're missing the point. That was year 1 for Mumme. YEAR 1. You're talking about a coach that took over for Curry. Good grief. They were atrocious. They lost to UT who had some guy named Manning as their QB, BTW.
Please tell us how years 2 and 3 went. Oops. You better not. Might make my point for me.

You have to remember that some of those Claiborne and Mumme five win teams would of went bowling with today's schedule. The NCAA allowed teams to add another cupcake game and UK also dropped P5 school Indiana for a cupcake that should be a sure win. Only have to beat three schools to make bowl now.

your also forgetting the fact that couch was the number one rated qb out of high school and the first pick in the NFL draft. what do you think we would look like now with that type of QB? what team wouldn't look better than they are with that (Louisville)

The 97 team was ok, but nothing special. we beat absolutely no one worth beating our chest for. you brought them up like they was this big team, in a thread where we were asking where you would place this team against those others. this team would beat that team by two scores.

actually you said this team would be way behind all those teams listed I just showed you that team was not anything great and the wins you were bragging about would be equivient to beating Idaho and the current vandy team. But you brought up the 97 team, and say they would beat this team soundly is pretty false

Reminds me a fair amount of the 1993 Peach Bowl team now that you mention it, with Boom/Snell in the Moe Williams role and QB Smith as a poor-man's Pookie Jones.

Here's hoping that doesn't mean we go 1-10 next year.

Based on what has happened to date, the only two teams that I would definitely say are better than this years team are the 98 and 06 teams. All the rest of the teams are similar to this years.
