What do Specer Rattler and Jordan Strachan do? I assume they still are going to wear #7 since I haven't seen otherwise. I guess they are kind of grandfathered in since it was already selected prior to the retirement decision.

Number 7 won't be retired. They will hang a jersey honoring Clowney outside the stadium press area, but number 7 will continue to be used.
Which makes the entire thing a complete joke - created to coddle current players who want the number. All "jerseys" get retired eventually - sooner rather than later.
According to this article the policy is permission needs to be given by the player who's jersey is retired. Sterling Sharpe would not give Alshon permission to use his number and has denied the request on multiple occasions.
Not sure if the policy has changed but I don't believe so as there is no #2 on our roster.

Sharpe's refusal to allow #2 to be used (multiple times) lead directly to the school policy that they would no longer retire numbers.
So what you're saying is......some new player could simply say he wants to wear #38?
