Singleton gets some hate, but is the hardest hitter on the team and plays with more urgency than most.
That says alot about our defense and how bad it was this year. Singleton hasn't been a hard hitter since his injury a few years ago. Really there weren't any guys that would strike fear in an offense. One of the main reasons why MR said he made a change at DC was lack of effort and pursuit to the ball. I'd say when healthy V Shavers packs the biggest thump/hitter.

He slips and slides and loses his footing every time a big running back breaks open in the defensive backfield (See Minnesota, Michigan, USC and Penn State games). He takes himself right out of the play. Doesn't want to make the hard tackle. Buford does the same thing. Why you think the redshirt freshmen from Colorado got so much playing time.

He is no All American, but wasn't the main reason for the wrong run fits on most of those long runs. Buford was exposed and replaced, as you mentioned. Guthrie has a long way to go. I could see 2 new starting safeties next year.

I was at the Michigan State game this year. Singleton had two interceptions. He did not have to move an inch to catch both balls. Who threw those bad passes? The likely Husker starter next year at quarterback, Aidan Chiles. Should be a fun year.

Ha, you could be right, but there is a long way to go on the portal qb front. Chiles would be a solid backup. I still have doubts (hope) he is not "the answer".

Chiles isn’t coming here
