Sizing up Austin Peay

Austin Peay is 4-4 coming into Thursday’s game in Morgantown.

The Governors haven’t beaten anyone of consequence (Oakland City, SE Louisiana, South Carolina State and North Florida).

They have lost to Western Kentucky, Tulsa, Vanderbilt and Arkansas.

This might be a good litmus test for WVU. Win and it’s not a mar. Lose and it looks like the Mountaineers are below the same teams that beat Austin Peay.

I know, comparative scores are meaningless. But the Peay outcome will give us an inkling of where this team is headed.

I’m extremely hopeful. The pieces are there. The problem areas have been publicized by me and others.

Huggins is the perfect coach to solve those problems.

After Peay, Nicholls State and Youngstown comes the super mountain to climb:

Ohio State in Cleveland at noon Sunday, December 29. I already have my center-court tickets.

My sister and the BIL lived near Murray for years. Their youngest son loved to go to Murray St. games when he was little. It was the only place he could chant "Let's Go Peay!" as loud as he wanted with a few thousand other people and not get in trouble.
