Edit: Sorry y’all. I posted a bogus tweet that was saying that Luis from St John’s was in the portal. Could still happen so I’m leaving this post up and the question stands.

Would you want him?

My take is a hard no. Seems like a head case who would wilt under the spotlight here. Anybody think you gamble and pick him up? Why?

He was very clutch before the NCAA tournament and he seemed to have a good repertoire with his teammates so how all this ended for him was surprising. If you surround him with other shooters he may be ok but yeah its a gamble.

Mods, is there not some code that prevents this Twitter account from being quoted? Like how you used to not be able to post words with **** in it.

ETA: oh that filter still works.

Hey sorry for posting a bogus Twitter account. I think the question holds up and wouldn’t be surprised to see the kid bolt.

I would definitely take him assuming there aren't off court issues. That was inexplicable how Pitino benched him for the stretch. He was the heart and soul of St. John's team. He was having a terrible game, but they weren't going to win without him. He will be the best PG in the portal, at least based on what I've seen.

He shoots like 32% from 3. They lost in large part because they were a bad shooting team. The Big East didn't have the athleticism/size to keep them out of the paint.

It's a no from me.

I would not want him. When he was having his bad game vs Arkansas, it wasn't just that. He was sulking...and not looking for teammates at all. He pretty much abandoned the team and gameplan.

So why did RP sit him? He told the reporter post game that he knew. Was he not doing what RP told him?

Would he do the same with Pope?

We already got one of these guys from tulane yesterday.
Learned a lesson from last night.
Need a starting power forward who can rebound.

If he does actually transfer, ignore the positional need component, I’d be shocked if Pope took Pitino’s best player.
I'd be surprised if Pitino wouldn't want his biggest admirer and former player to have him play for him instead of any other coach.

Did you watch the game? He forced about three shots and turned the ball over multiple times in just a few minutes right before he got benched. He was totally throwing St John's offense off by forcing shots, refusing to run the offense, and becoming a turnover machine.

He wasn't running the offense. That's why Pitino sat him.
Exactly, he’s a good player but he can’t shoot. Not a good mix. I think he’s a solid college player who tried to be a little more than he’s capable of to the detriment of the team.

Doubt Pope wants to put up with him. Another Amari situation. Tons of skill but shuts down when something doesn’t go his way.
