Ive been keeping an eye on a team that does not have a good history of football.

Maine West.

I know they haven’t played great teams so far this season, and their schedule is very weak, but I’ve seen them and they look rock solid. They are big and have a tank of a rb in Jake Belizzi.

They play Hersey next week which has a couple of solid wins. If they beat them I see them as a solid team in 6a. Could we see a run ala Hoffman estates last year? Just putting it out there.

WWS 3 and 0. But hasn’t been tested yet either (I think all 3 teams they have played are 0-3 and two of them could realistically finish 0-9). But I think they are a sleeper team that could be really good and make waves in 7A. I want to see them against STE and SCN before I really jump on the bandwagon.

WV - 3 and 0 to start the season. A solid win vs OPRF and also Neuqua last nite. Big tests coming vs Edwardsville and Naperville Central. If they can win one of those two games AND they can stay fairly healthy....well.... could be a possibility to at least be dangerous in the 8A brackets.

Glenbard East likely has East St Louis and Mt Carmel next. They could catch Estl sleeping as they have a 5 hour drive to the game. If they get through them I no longer would call them a sleeper.

Also find that possible Willowbrook/Batavia matchup soon interesting.

Where Evergreen Park was seeding, they could go three rounds, then get bumped by Montini.

eagles2k3.... Good call from early in the season!

Coach Kradman has done an amazing job getting these guys from Maine West to buy in and it paid off with a HUGE win last night against Benet.

Bellizzi is a tank and Benet really loaded up to stop him, but we have the QB and skill players outside to make them pay... our D was also huge last night making Benet earn every yard.

No idea what to expect from Willowbrook, but we will have a chance in that game for certain.

Thanks for the recognition... looking forward to watching my son play at least one more week of HS football!

Well, they've got Willowbrook in round 2, which will be a tall order...but I sure would like to see it!

They got their first playoff victory in school history last night. Let's hope they're not satisfied getting the albatross off their backs and can make a nice run!

This group of kids from Maine West is not satisfied at all... they love the spotlight and the big games for certain.

Any scouting report on Willowbrook?

Playoff football is amazing to watch... the big-time performers come out and leave it all on the field! Happy that I get to watch my son play at least one more week...

Willobrook is the toughest team pound for pound that I saw in the western burbs this fall. Nothing too fancy but every kid on the field is gonna bring the wood on every play. Look out for the safeties who are brothers, they also play Qb and the other plays slot. Those kids are heart of the team and are something special.

Thanks for the quick scouting report... I've heard nothing but good things about the Willowbrook team and they look solid on film for sure.

Will be fun to see how we match up... our TB, Belizzi, is a physical, bruising runner and we have speed on the outside with two tall (6'3") wideouts that can go up and get it. Maine West is not deep though and have a ton of two-way players. Not real big on the lines, but also have very tough kids (wrestlers) and that makes up for some size issues.

Really looking forward to the game... maybe we'll see you there!

Did the Tumulty's move from Naperville to Viila Park?

I thought there was a Tumilty at Naperville Central years ago?
That’s the father and his brothers played at NC. Scott Tumilty is the father of Sam and Scotty at WB. He is the MS freshman coach.

I am thinking there could be some transfers heading to LW210...that lousy school district from Providence?

Hersey beat them 51-28 early in the season

I would think the other way around with LWE having a second string D that could start at other schools and dressing 100 players a game. Seems like some could get exposure elsewhere.

It was actually a much closer game than the score indicated. Two bad turnovers right before half were the difference. Hersey was the better team, but it was a close game. Would be a fun re-match.
No one would like to see that rematch more than ESL/MtC

I’m putting Crystal Lake South out there as a sleeper. Not only did they just blank the almost #1 seed Kenwood 49-0, but their losses to both CG and PR were only by a touchdown. Don’t overlook these guys.

St. Charles North could make a run to the semifinals.

Thanks for the recognition! Jake is my cousin and as a Maine South guy, I couldn’t be happier for the Maine West success. He is a true gamer, and a real tough kid. So proud of Jake and what a warrior he is!

Great kid, incredible athlete... he's good friends with my son Ely Grimmer, and it's been great to see the success that the entire team has had.... nothing to lose this week and will be fun to watch them take on Willowbrook. Look me up if you are there, I always have a pre-game handshake with big John before the game!

Kenwood was brutal, another CPS team getting state charity with their seed.

CLS can be a sleeper.....
Cary game, they should have won. PR game wasn't as close as it's score.
But getting beat down by Dundee Crown....
