Looking for some input on sliding doors. About to start doing some upgrades around the house & need a new door . I started looking at Lowe's & priced the pella. I believe doors are not something to skimp on .

DO NOT DO IT! Sliding doors, NOOOOOO!!!!! For another option, french doors maybe. I put them in my new house (I don't like them, my wife wanted it). We went with Jeld-Wen. The ones with the blinds inside the glass.

To clarify, it's not that my french doors are bad. They are fine. Just that when I designed our house, I didn't want to take up that much wall space to our back side of the house.

I have French doors now (1997) & they take up to much room when I open them . Not a big fan of sliding doors but I have to move the dining table to open the door & I want to use my back deck more

Then get the best sliding doors on the market. I wouldn't get cheap ones.

That's why I started with pella. Doors & windows should be the top of the line . Pella is very proud of their doors , gonna go check out Anderson today. I figured 4 grand would cover a good door , well I was wrong.

My wife wanted this house we bought two years ago. Tried to buy it in 2009 when the bank repo it. It's a huge house, 6,000, we had 8 sliders. She got three windows at habitat and had a carpenter take out one smaller slider, frame it up and put in two HE windows. She bought the windows for $40 each. Lucked out there but I have a single window in the garage. Four of the sliders are huge and I think they are wider than 80". Going to be a fortune to replace them. Room isn't a problem for three of them but one is in the bedroom which might be a problem. The other slider is off the kitchen near the table. I told her we should just keep that one cause it would eat up too much room to replace. Seems like French doors are the rage right now. House was built in 1985.

I replaced french doors with a large slider about 5 years ago. It's a large 2 panel slider about 9' wide. We did a Marvin Integrity series and it's built like a truck. I wouldn't hesitate to do it as long as you get something good.

Who makes the marvin integrity?
Never dreamed I'd be spending 6500 on a door . I figured 4g would get a good one ...wrong

They have one down near the lake in Moneta. There an office here in Roanoke, I think I've seen it. Don't think it's nearly as big as the one in Moneta
Dont know they are that much better than a pella or Anderson I can get here . Would rather buy from independent dealers. Better service.....I think

I'm sorry.
I love parkersburg. Since I travel for work & my wife is a nurse I can choose anyplace I want to live .
Dollar for dollar I cant find a better place , cost of living is low , crime is low & for me plenty to do .
I'm 5 minutes from Marietta & that's a nice little river town .
