Also his philosophy is identical to Cals on that. It’s actually crazy how similar they are in attitude and personality. Would’ve been a bad fit here.

What an unbelievable 180 degree turnaround my opinion has made on this jerk.

I went from desperately wanting him as our next coach to realizing he would have been a terrible fit, understanding that we got exactly who we needed and feeling the relief of dodging an actual bullet.

UK got their man, I firmly believe that. Coach Pope is exactly what we needed and I see great things ahead for our program with him at the helm. True class dude who actually loves Kentucky.

More chance for bodies to break down, and if your team isn't playing well (or gassed, or upset from a big loss) then you could be in for something like Uconn just had, which is 3 in a row. I know that's not likely, but I also believe Uconn would almost for sure win one of those if they spaced them out.

Now maybe if this was just a championship series like the CC is, where you play a couple of set games before going home, sure. And cool for the fans I guess, but I don't see these tournaments actually helping the teams at all. Too chaotic and up for grabs for my liking. (Which yes I understand the NCAAT is similarly chaotic.)

If you don’t remind yourself this is a program that won back to back, there is no way anyone would feel threatened by them. They suck.

Yeah i totally get that I'm gonna be on an island here. And I don't think Hurley should make these comments or excuses. But i still look at this and think, purely from a perspective of trying to win in March, this tournament isn't offering us anything. If anything it can only hurt.

I want them put in the best position to do that. And I don't think these types of tournaments do that. That’s it right there. The three games in three days crap is a BS excuse. Did Hurley agree to the tournament thinking the games were several days apart? No! Whiny, pathetic and revealing.

Cal knew freshman teams could leave Maui with 2-3 losses! He wanted nothing to do with it. Hurley didn’t even face the ranked teams in Maui, Auburn and ISU would have murderfied UConn!

Not defending him with this but wouldn't that make a lot of sense. Our experiences are often defined by whether they are successful or not. Of course they would have been happy if they had won.

They're both ******* yankees (and I say that as an ******* yankee). Both of their schticks work fine when they're winning big, but grate on people and get annoying when they aren't. Hurley seems to be more explosive with his anger during games, but they're definitely both cut from the same cloth.

I love Maui because it's a unique event. I know Chaminade doesn't play every year now, but having big teams travel to Maui to play a tournament with a local DII team is just cool. I don't really care about any of the other ones. Something like the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis that takes place in a ballroom or wherever they play doesn't pique my interest. But Maui does.

I don't really care about any of the other ones. Something like the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis that takes place in a ballroom or wherever they play doesn't pique my interest. But Maui does.

Didn't the Atlantic one also have issues with the court sweating or some ****? I know for UKs summer trip a few years back, the gym floor also had dead spots and was uneven. I do get why these are fun trips, especially for the fans who are able to attend.

Yeah I think so. That tournament always kind of seemed like amateur hour to me, like they were trying to cheaply recreate the "tropical tournament during the cold holiday season" vibe Maui has.
