2A El Paso Gridley is loaded on both sides of the ball. Big win over Tri-Valley last night 28-7.
Despite losing Considine to graduation and Talbert to baseball, Jeff Boyer has 3A Byron rolling again. Big game vs. Du-Pec in two weeks.

No matter who they have Byron is always good, this is no surprise. They haven't lost more than one regular season game since 2015.
I’m out on them. Forreston smoked em. I don’t see them being a “true threat”
Fisher Bunnies are undefeated, played JV season a few years ago.
EPG very good, athletic and explosive.
Wilmington is doing Wilmington things.
Byron is doing Byron things.
Riverdale has came out of nowhere.
SJO should rule the Illini Prairie, Tolono having a down year and Monticello and BCC are solid teams.
STT is could make some noise in the south and that will likely send MF north
Lots of competitive ball coming in November.

I’m looking forward to Wilmo vs EPG. I think it will happen.
Wilmo not quite as dominant as last year and EPG was all sophs and juniors last year.

I’d say they be your south representative but they have a really good shot of going north now. Wonder what 2A South will look like especially if they don’t go that way.
The 2A south will be usual suspects Johnston City, Vandalia, Pana, Chester, Carlinville, Red Bud and Nashville but STT is looking like they will be a contender. And for those of you in the know, that does not make MF very happy.
None of those team inspire confidence into me. Especially Johnston. They always flame out early. BDC always does.
This is what intrigues me. Can the south bring a component opponent in 1A/2a?
However…4a and under, the only storyline that matters is…Rochester vs Montini
So a potential Byron/IC game in 3A north doesn't matter?

The BNC might be the worst it has ever been. Will be interesting to see how Byron fares with some real competition.
Agree they are both outstanding, but Wilmington and Lena are in that conversation.
Tolono did a nice job representing 3A South last season. Gave Byron a run for their money in the title game. The Illini Prairie is a great conference that produces battle tested playoff teams.
BCC at St. T non-conf on Friday has my full attention.
Monticello beat Unity. Unity beat BCC. BCC best Monticello. Monticello beat STT.
The BCC and STT game is huge and will tell us a lot about where both teams stand
Monticello and SJO is another good matchup but SJO is way ahead of the rest of the Illini Prairie. If they fall south, I would think they are the favorite in the south by a large margin.
it shouldnt . stt lost tonight to salt fork 14-7 . if they were toi play qnd again theyd lose . might beat ottawa marq and st bede , but it looks more like 4-5/5-4 .

nashville is my pick for the team out of 2a south for the next 2-3 years . they were young last year and took flora to the wire in round 1 .
What? The ICE has four teams that are 4-1 or better. The ICE is playing well so far this year.
I watched the Johnston City/Flora game... JC is tough again... They will make noise if Maroa goes North...
Nashville has 2 quality games and 2 asswhoopins... If they get rolled by Benton this coming week then stick a fork in them...
Couple of BCC guys said over the summer that SJO was the team to beat this season. Definitely looking good so far. Curious to see how they do against Andrew.
ICE doing pretty well overall. They have some non con wins vs the KRC, and Coal City kept it respectable vs Morris.
I don’t think they are in the same stratosphere of mediocre- Byron is looking at anywhere from 5-7 running clock games in the regular season. They are good but there is some bad football on the bottom half of the conference.
No different than any other year for Byron and they're always more than ready come playoff time.
Wilmington has only had one year * (last year) where that was the case - where they blew everyone out. I think that this year Coal City and EPG will give them a battle. Maybe Tri Valley or M-F also.

I’m strictly referencing the 2A playoffs. Always look forward to Wilmo vs Coal City.
I have zero faith in 2A south brining anything to the table.
Maaaaaaybe EPG can give them a game - hope so.
I would argue that Nashville has played stiffer competition than JC. We will see how the bracket shakes out for those two. Include Flora in that list as well
Sadly this is true in almost every conference. The Sangamo has dropped off and is just MF and Williamsville, everyone else has dropped off the last few years.
Illini Prairie is more competitive because they have 4 (BCC, Unity, SJO, Monticello) but Pontiac, PBL and PC are way behind those 4.
HoI is EPG, Tri Valley in the big and no one else. Eureka is respectable but no real contenders. The small is fun because it's more competitive but always seems to be 1 team much better than the rest.
The TRAC seems to have a charging of the guard and Princeton and Newman aren't as dominant as they were not that long ago.
