Tuscola back in the late 80s and 90s had steamroller lineman every year... But as with all small schools, farming dies out and towns decline... Tuscola is tough but Heyworth right now is the steamroller... They just have to stay within themselves and be perfect one play at a time...

They had some dudes on the o line and d line during my time at A&M. They had a QB around 2012/2013 we played against who might as well have been a full back, dude was a truck. We enjoyed the rivalry with them because it was always a game

To your point, Pana has a real shot at making a run, imo, this year given that bracket. Defense come week 10 and beyond becomes crucial, and Pana have a defesne. The offense struggles at times it would seem. Might bite them this time of year but that defense hasn't let anyone push them around. Sticking in the South Central I'm very excited to see if Hillsboro can maintain the momentum coming into the playoffs. However, their defense has struggled against quality opponents so we shall see.

Also to your point, it's anyone's for the taking in 2A south, so we may see some wild games. I also think that will be fun... to see a bracket without a true juggernaut running through it.

#13 for Heyworth does it all... I think he has 5 total TD from both sides of the ball... Running clock 12 sec into the 2nd half... Heyworth 53-0 after 3 quarters...

The NUIC - Their big 3 Stockton, Forreston and Lena will see 2 of the 3 bounced before the Quarterfinals. Fulton has a great shot to join the winner of those 3 in the Quarterfinals though and Galena could be a very tough out for Heyworth in the 1st Round.

2A South - Everyone is a winner with Maroa going North. Could be any number of teams making in to state. I still like West Frankfort to get there but Johnston City, Nashville will have a say and keep an eye on Pana they are playing really well.

3A Winners - Pontiac in the north with a chance to win a couple games vs CPL schools. Also like Monticello chances to get to the State Semi final avoiding conference rivals Unity, SJO and BCC who are on the other half of south bracket.

I'm probably wrong but I don't see anyone giving SJO a game outside of the potential rematches with their conference foes BCC, Monticello, and potentially Unity if they play extremely well. If there is a sleeper I would say it's probably Olympia, partially because of their scheme.

It would be great if the smaller school south teams wouldn't be scared to vote for a 1-32 (or 48) seeding. But they know the north teams would eliminate them every year and refuse to vote for it.

It'd be better if they'd consolidate some districts, send more teams to 8-man, and stop being just a few notches above the CPL in terms of watering down the playoff product. In lower classes, they wouldn't even get past central IL let alone the north.

Agreed, it’s likely an Illini Prairie team or Olympia that gives SJO a battle. Interested to see what Williamsville does - got smacked around by Olympia but beat Maroa-Forsyth (who beat Olympia).

Those Topper players have never been in this position before... Having a target on their back is an emotional load and the Toppers handled it. Now that they are at the top of the mountain I want to see how they handle the playoffs... Yes, 3A is loaded so regardless it's been a very good season for Hillsboro!!!
