Pretty even game in the first half, Murphy thoroughly controlled the 2nd half minus one run, which came off a Murphy turnover.

Obviously Robbinsville will be different when you factor in Adams and Williams but for a Murphy team that doesnt have a ton of speed or size and came into that season with really low expectations I thought they performed well.

I guess it's not a secret now..Robbinsville lost it's star running back last game with a broken collar bone.

Watched Swain and Cherokee online. Swain looks pretty solid. Have a lot of good pieces. Cherokee not so good. They have some good looking kids but are poorly coached.

Yeah had heard that, kid is super shifty and quick, tough loss for you guys. With that said I'm going to be honest with you, don't think it would've changed the outcome tonight, Murphy run defense was lights out for the most part, consistent penetration and contained the edge well. Now if you are talking Adams and Williams too that's a different story, too many weapons to contain.

Murphy was missing one of their top skill players as well to be fair, had knee surgery, out for season. Would've either been the starting QB or WR and started in secondary.

Congratulations to the JV Dogs. Stalcup had some good runs that put the game away late. Great start to the season.
Stalcup was very impressive at safety, best looking safety in run support I've seen on JV at Murphy in quite a while.

Like I've said this Murphy team isn't loaded with elite talent like some of the past Murphy JV teams but if tonight is any indication they will play smart and hard nosed football and that can still take you pretty far.

Lots of 8th graders and a couple 7th graders starting on that Murphy JV team. Was very impressed with how the defense handled themselves.
If they can get those two good 7th grade skill kids to come back out this fall or the fall after that's going to be a good group as varsity upperclassmen.

I think sometimes we get too caught up with 40 times and explosive plays thinking every play has to be a 60 yard scamper. Give me a solid line and a RB that can consistently get 4 yards a carry and we’ll move the sticks. The sophomore group of linemen along with Ledford and these other kids mixed in could be a solid group that will win some games down the road.

Biscuit I'm with you that explosive plays arent everything and that the 9th and 10th grade group can win plenty of games and have some deep runs but at the end of the day those explosive players are what separate good teams from great teams, without em you'll be hard pressed to win state championships. And that's ok, not every group that comes through here is going to be state championship caliber.

Swain has made some good runs over the years keeping the sticks moving and ball control. Every team is different. Play to your strengths for each individual team.

Glad to see Rosman getting a few jv wins. I don't think they won any the past 2 or 3 seasons.
