Friday's games will very possible bring clarity to he SMC standings . Let's look at each:

Rosman at Andrews Both are struggling with injuries in rebuilding years. The winner should claim 6th in the league. The loser will probably find themselves in last place.

Swain at Hayesville. Both teams enter with 1 conference loss, the winner will be in excellent position to finish at least third. Both would need to win out to possibly finish higher. The top three SMC finishers have a good chance of receiving a first round bye and a home game in the second round of the playoffs.

Robbinsville at Murphy A Robbinsville win will virtually insure a first place finish for the Knights. They would only need to win one of there last two games as they would hold the tie breaker (head to head) with Murphy, Swain and Hayesville. A Murphy win opens the possibility of a three way tie if Swain or Hayesville wins out and Robbinsville wins out.

Cherokee is open. The Braves are the wildcard as they still have games with Robbinsville and Swain.. if they win out and Murphy loses to Hayesville and Swain and beats Robbinsville and Swain beats Hayesville , then magic has happened. In this wild scenario the conference will end in a 5 way tie providing Andrews and Rosman don't pull an upset. I don't think it will happen but wouldn't it be a while turn of events.

My disclaimer is that I am pondering this really late at night. Note I am not making predictions but rather getting possibilities.

Rosman over Andrews
Swain over Hayesville

Murphy over Robbinsville…..The Dogs are loaded this year and it will take a Herculean effort for anyone in the SMC to beat them, especially on The Hill.

I thought the Murphy/Robbinsville game was usually last game of year.

It was tradition for Murphy- Swain, Andrews- Hayesville and Cherokee - Robbinsville to be the final games of the season. A few years ago (in a very close vote) the conference elected to go to a rotating schedule. Every 2 years the last matchup of the season is moved to the first conference game of the following season.
