So, 34 & Counting...

Regulars can correct me if I'm wrong, but the biggest complaint before was not so much with the name as it was the description, which still mentioned John Smith as the current HC. I'm pretty sure we don't have board descriptions any more, so that's now a non-issue.Somehow, something like:
Gallagher, Griffith, Roderick, Chesbro, Seay, Smith, & Taylor
Feels like it has an air of overcompensation to it, not to mention, sounding like a law firm.
They had to cut Mount Rushmore off at some point.
How about 8 Great Coaches (and counting)
Gallagher Hall seems like a nice, simplistic choice.
34 & Counting has its flaws, at the end of the day, feels like it will be difficult to come up with something that is both better and has large agreement around.
Making it clear to newcomers and outsiders in the title might be smart. Could as simple as Wrestling - 34 & Counting work?
I think 34 and counting is fine if we feel really good about getting it changed once we get 35
Personally, I have 34 and Counting fatigue! Since I started going to matches in the mid-60’s, when I was about 10 years old, the Gallagher Hall name really means a lot to us long-time fans. Plus, I’ve heard other non-OSU people talk about how special it is to have a venue named after a wrestling coach. That is very cool!
A compromise, perhaps - Gallagher Hall/34 & Counting. Or Gallagher Hall - 34 & Counting
During this transition phase for the boards/site in general it roots back to what it was before. If DT doesn't get to (or seriously in contention for) 35 as promptly as we all think he might, we can just go to Gallagher Hall for the name.
Just spitballing here.
How about - Gallagher Hall, the proud home of wrestling with 34 National Championships and counting
It's pretty amazing that the state of Oklahoma had 30 NC's before Iowa had more than three.
It took 53 years (1984) before the rest of the country caught up with our (OSU) 27 NC's
How about this.....I think adding Home of Wrestling honors the past and what Coach David Taylor is trying to build.

I was just in favor of a name that would generate some Google search priority if people were looking for the board. In actuality, that is probably old thinking and not necessary.

I just think given all the hoopla around the name change, it would be nice to just change it once and be done forever. No mentions of coaches or numbers of titles, no cringy phrases. I mean Iowa's is literally this:

"Gallagher Hall - Home of Wrestling" is about as far as I'd want to go with a phrase. But we'd be just as well off copying Iowa's name/description and subbing in "Oklahoma State University"

I’d suggest “Degenerates and Cowboys” but that name might be a bit redundant, eh?
It seems to me that if it can be updated when we win again we should keep the 34 as a badge but if not it should be something that illustrates our historic dominance.

I thought there was an epiphany yesterday w/ the combo of Gallagher Hall + The Home of Wrestling. I mean the two guys that came up with each of those are genius!

It’s a great name. If it’s easily changeable then 34 and Counting can stay, it’s a good name too. IMO the C in Counting should be capitalized. If it’s all the same to everyone, and I know how the powers that be feel… I’m sick and f’n tired of looking at that number 34!
I tried to get an opinion of John’s on what this should be called and I was met with indifference.

I liked 34 and counting for about 5 years then it became old and tired.
Maybe we can rename Sutton Court to “2 and counting” and the main board to “1 kind of and counting”. Or maybe the main board should be “54 and counting”.
Anyone see a theme?

Yeah it's kind of a meme at this point. Stuck at 34, ha ha ha. So we should change it to Gallagher Hall + The Home of Wrestling and then when we win 35, contemplate changing it to 35 and Counting
