Imo they need to say nothing. There is nothing to say.

Optics aren't quite as bad if we find out they paid him crazy money. If they didn't, thats another story.

Marrow is a rat...
Guys I’m really not upset at all about this. I think the bloom came off his rose w white back and it was time for him to move on. He had clearly lost his mojo and fire and with the landscape of his recruiting changing the importance of his position had changed too. Add in that he wasn’t the greatest position coach either and it all fine with me.

Rally don’t think he’s all that equipped to be in a GM position, he’ll be okay but nothing great. I’ll predict his honeymoon will not last that long up there.

Think part of him leaving was he was tired of fighting the battle and grind of SEC recruiting too so looking for a fresh and easier gig

Put it this way, UL is going to over pay for a commodity that is not what it used to be and for a new position he’s unproven for.

There is no spinning this. How can Stops condemn the guy for doing something he himself tried to do.
That may be part of this too, no question the relationship between he and Stoops didn’t seem to be the same after that

I’m sure the statement from Stoops camp will read something like

“After being courted by many major championship programs including Ohio State, Michigan, Texas, UGA, Clemson, Alabama…the Chiefs, Eagles, and President Trump to head the new Football department, Vince Marrow has elected to go to UL and Coach Stoops has decided to run it back one more time here at UK.”

The statement from MB should read as follows

“ All y’all MFers that want to tango and play pull it out…places like Fayetteville and Da Ville are hiring…I’m MFing King Kong around here and I’m tired of lack luster performers trying to strong arm me. Have fun making less money in **** holes!”

Just hope his Ohio recruiting ties doesn’t bite us in the rear.

I seriously doubt they paid him more than we did.

I doubt they did too. If they paid comparable plus gave him an easier job, it is understandable.

Where he's going to twist the knife is when he drags Mitch for giving them no nil support.

- By creating a general manager position, they were able to finesse buyout language in his contract at Kentucky, opening the door for the move to finally become a reality.

Mitch B. folks.

Yep. Mitch clowned yet again.

Yeah but that’s about it though. Substance wise it’s not that big a loss
It is a big loss. Argue if he's a top 10 recruiter or top 30. But he's a good one. Our recruiting is not going to improve with him gone. Not at this point in the year. I think Stoops is gone. Would be nice to have some good players coming in next year so new guy isn't starting from complete scratch.

Also, I still wanted to root for this years team to win games. Players like Vince. I don't think he could rally players to win 7 games next year. But I don't trust anyone left to keep this team from rolling over after that Ole Miss game.

With NIL & transfers not as big a deal as before
Recruiting has already slipped - if he went to Mich St no one would care
Stoops has to win 6 to stay or it’s Sumrall time @ UK

I think it makes landing Kentucky kids more difficult, especially in the short term. That was likely the goal for Brohm when he started trying to make this hire two years ago. He's not irreplaceable but he isn't going to be easily replaced on the recruiting front.

If Stoops isn't going to condemn him I will. The scumbag went to Louisville. My only real thoughts or memories of him will just be that he was the filthy turd that went to U6.
Honestly, where else was he gonna go?? No SEC schools are after him. At one time MSU wanted him but that came and went. No B1G schools were after him, now. He knew his time at UK ending. Of course UL thinks they got the best recruiter in the country.

What worries me is that Stoops will leave UK football in such shambles that someone like Sumrall won't want the job. Especially if he's getting other offers from teams like Auburn. It's hard enough to win in the SEC to begin with, but what rising star coach wants to take on a rebuilding job that's in a state of total disorder.

Nothing to spin. It’s an easier and better job. Legit ability to win conference and make the playoffs every year. Oh yeah, they will pay him too.

he needed to go. He got too fat and lazy. He is a bad position coach. Hire CJ Conrad and move on. Next Stoops needs to retire and get out of town.
He was never here to coach the tight ends man. He was here to recruit and he did it very well. Anyone saying this is no big deal is doing some serious mental gymnastics to downplay what happened

No that’s a good point and I addressed it in another thread. I think it will affect us some and help UL some but not as much as we may fear because although Vince clearly has contacts there, he had the SEC to help him here and won’t there.

No question the timing is tough and that will be a hit just for that alone. And no question Vince was a good recruiter but and did some great things here. But I was speaking more to the big picture long term affect of losing him and I don’t think it’s near as big a deal as many folks first reaction will be.

Mainly because he lost some mementim himself. Second because the landscape has changed. And third be cause he won’t have the SEC to sell anymore. I see this more of a situation where it was time for both parties to move on from each other and I’m not crushed about it at all.
